    Minimum Phase vs Linear Phase

Well, emphasis is a limited treble boost, and 'shrill' seems a bit exaggerated. In fact with older recordings they do sound more like modern ones, except for the still missing bass. EQ can be used to replace the missing de-emphasis. Still, the conecpt of emhasis in audio makes no sense anymore...

    Minimum Phase vs Linear Phase

Whoever uses Pre-Emphasis in 2025 does not do good service to his customers. With the very popular (and good, I might add) ESS9039Q2M DAC chip we have the first one (AFAIK) that no longer supports De-Emphasis. Others might follow...

    Intona USB 3.0 Isolator Review

That quote is 5 years old. Today there exist two cheap integrated circuits that are used in perfectly working isolators for less than 50 bucks. You do need an external power supply for the Babyface, but that would be the same with any isolator. For those newer versions search ASR, they have been...

    7Hz x Crinacle Zero:2 IEM Review

It's a pity @amirm doesn't do fun measurements like that - what is the maximum SPL or milliwatts that cause drastic rise in THD at 20 Hz. I don't have the equipment to do that. With normal headphones one can shove earplugs into the ear canal, then listen at lowered volume to the point where the...

    7Hz x Crinacle Zero:2 IEM Review

I had them running on the ADI-2/4 TRS output in High Power mode (my ear drums still flittering) with around 400 mW. Do not try that...

JCALLY JM20 MAX Headphone Dongle Review

Only 22 € over here - ordered. USB meters with USB 3 data through are rare, and this one even guarantees 10 Gb/s - nice. But it will most probably not work easily with USB-A devices (via adapter) and simple USB-C implementations (missing the 5.1 k resistors). Let's see...

    Truthear GATE $17 IEM Review

Not pricey, but yes, some additional costs. If none of the provided ones could give a good seal then you might need extra large. Two recommendations for 'bigger' ones: - Divinus Velvet Wide Bore in L - AZLA SednaEarfit Origin in L Both have a wide diameter on the umbrella, but are very...

(Unofficial) Review of JCALLY JM20 MAX: USB-C Headphone Dongle with High Unbalanced Output Power

I am curious - did you ever measure what 15% on Windows volume slider really means? For example in AIMP volume slider the 15% give around -16 dB (unless you activate the log option), which matches good enough. But with the volume slider on the right of the taskbar in Windows 11 set to 15% I get...

(Unofficial) Review of JCALLY JM20 MAX: USB-C Headphone Dongle with High Unbalanced Output Power

The answer has been mentioned/explained here several times with nice graphics, but I coudn't find it when searching. 24 kHz for 44.1 kHz sample rate was chosen because it relaxes the filter and phase deviation around 20 kHz, while at the same time anything mirroring back (if at all) will never...

(Unofficial) Review of JCALLY JM20 MAX: USB-C Headphone Dongle with High Unbalanced Output Power

I am not aware of any device reaching such values at an unbalanced TRS output. Plus these values need some perspective - you won't be able to hear any difference from 30 dB up. It is more about proper design and build. For me, reaching stable >70 dB at 32 Ohms and up is nothing to complain about.

Review and Measurements of RME ADI-2 Pro (comparison to ADI-2 DAC)

Exactly. The ADI-2 Pro had no change in used AD/DA and overall performance, except for the change from AK4490 to AK4493 in earlier times and the introduction of FS clocking.. Here is an overview of all models: https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?id=32506 All ADI-2 Pro versions use AK5574...

(Unofficial) Review of JCALLY JM20 MAX: USB-C Headphone Dongle with High Unbalanced Output Power

Good catch. I did not perform the measurements in the 'intuitive' order, and the AP software does not allow any reordering. So the manually given labels in the right legend were in wrong order - my fault. I uploaded the corrected version.
