Dirac is quite a game changer with the M1. There is a perceptible difference on most songs while in a few it is not so noticeable.

Why spend $ 999 on a streamer ? Why not spend the same on a Marantz Model M1 and get a streamer + DAC + amp ?

I am not a big fan of Dirac. I returned the AVR licence for my Denon 3800. For stereo I focus more on speaker placement and minor correction to room rather than software. I took a demo of Dirac on higher end models of NAD (stereo) but wasn’t quite impressed.

The initial setup takes about 10-15 min given the peculiarities of HEOS. After that its a breeze- no issues (thankfully). Bluesound Powernode is much faster to set up and sounds well but fades in comparison to the Marantz in terms of sound.

Have been using the Model M1 with the KEF LS50 Metas for the past week. Fantastic pairing and its the first amp that has been able to do justice to the speakers. My earlier amp- a Rotel RA10 used to play well but the speakers are very demanding.
