Feeding with analog signal, 8361 would do ADC - DSP - DAC/Amp. There should not be any audible difference.

On same HDMI out issue, I 'am puzzled as well. I have seen pics showing steaming infos on external screen connected to this HDMI out. For example, streaming from Qobuz, could you get some stream datas on unit screen and jacket pic on external screen? I'm expecting my unit delivery by month end.

This is a digital signal and I have problems understanding signal levels on SPDIF (if decoding occurs flawlessly). Short answer, I don't know but this is a passive adapter, therefore I doubt level matching.
