Astell & Kern Kann Ultra DAP Review

I thought the same until I've bought one (mine was 200 usd though) - it has an micro SD card reader which my smartphone hasn't so I can have up to 2 TB of music for situations where I do not have an internet connection, I can listen to music without being disturbed by calls and while leaving my...

    CHORD Alto Headphone/Power Amp Review

Chord UI is awful for everyone except for their users. I have a Chord Mojo 2 that I use while falling asleep listening to music through headphones (and in other situations too, naturally). I am able to set the volume with my eyes shut and control every other setting with the lights off, just by...

    Attenuating room reverberation with DSP

Hi, I have a room reverberation issue with RT60 times above 1 second. Can I attenuate this issue with DSP? Thanks

    Topping B100 Amplifier Review

That external power supply for the monoblocks, which are supposed to be near the speakers, are a absurd design choice.

Sabaj A20h Balanced Headphone Amp Review

I voted poor. It may sound like honey being poured from the breasts of 1000 virgins, but the headphone connection at the back is, for me, simply unforgivable (who the heck had this idea?? )

How can DAC's have a SOUND SIGNATURE if they measure as transparent?

The bias works both ways - it's not implied that it makes you prefer the sound of the most expensive gear.

How can DAC's have a SOUND SIGNATURE if they measure as transparent?

Or maybe your bias makes you prefer the sound of the cheaper DAC, regardless of sounding the same, worst or better than the most expensive one? PS: replied to the wrong post

How can DAC's have a SOUND SIGNATURE if they measure as transparent?

If our bias make us prefer the sound of a specific DAC, isn't that the DAC that we should buy, regardless if in reality it sounds exactly the same as another cheaper one? I mean, we are not going to listen to our DACs blindly forever!

Fosi Audio SK02 DAC & HP Amp Review

That filter implementation hurts my eyes. The unbalanced linearity, the (very pronounced) ESS hump and the messy jitter performance do the rest. A Moondrop Dawn or similar dongle DAC have better objective performance for less cost. Two high end DACs reviewed recently blow this DAC out of the...

Fosi Audio SK02 DAC & HP Amp Review

I've seen much better performing DACs receiving the headless panther because of the price. Can't understand why the price makes this one a great DAC. A cheap DAC I agree, but then I've seen cheaper dongle dacs performing better here.

Measuring room frequency response with different DAC's

It was probably a bad idea, but the concept was to prove that you can't hear different frequency response from different DACs with your ears if a microphone can't record them (the microphone is capable of recording frequencies that we can't hear).

256 K but then I compare different measurements with the VAR smoothing.

Measuring room frequency response with different DAC's

Right, but it's difficult to set the level exactly the same. Normally I do it playing Pink Noise in order to get something around 75 to 76 dB. If one DAC is at 75 and other at 75.5 dB I guess that it's already a somewhat visible difference (altough it would be across all the frequencies).

Measuring room frequency response with different DAC's

That I can tell you that doesn't have a significant effect. You do a room measurement in about 15 seconds. I've done several consecutive measurements before and got exactly the same response. Very rarely I had some variations but in the lowest frequencies. I think the most difficult thing to do...

Measuring room frequency response with different DAC's

Man, you have to go out some more! Try to spend 11 months away from home per year and see where you'll need more your DACs..

Measuring room frequency response with different DAC's

If you measure it on the DAC some people will say: but did you listen to it? If you measure room frequency response you are measuring what you are hearing. No one listen to DACs. I do understand the logic that if the FR of all DACs is the same it can't have an influence of a room frequency...
