    Erin Reviews Chesky LC1

I have confirmation that the tweeter leads were not reversed in the units that were measured.

    Erin Reviews Chesky LC1

Hi, I'm the unnamed buyer who bought those LC-1s and sent them to Erin for testing. Why? A couple of reasons. First, to my hearing (which is admittedly not only subjective, but demonstrably damaged to the point of being classified as moderately impaired) , they sounded good enough during the...

    FS/US: Matrix Audio X-SABRE 3 - $1900

The unit is in as near-mint condition as it can be while still being sold used. I can't find a blemish on it, and the firmware is current. It is a crystal-clear implementation of a Sabre ESS ES9038 PRO chip with tons of input options and both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs. Works...

KEF Reference 4C Review (Center Speaker)

This is exactly why I have those vertical supports on the side/back to guard against tipping movement from accidental contact. If you're inclined to re-use, it should be fairly easy to extend the stand leg of the design I have and have it flat rather than angled to accomplish your preferred...

KEF Reference 4C Review (Center Speaker)

KEF Ci200RR-THX. One of them is the specific unit that @amirm measured for his review of that particular speaker, like my center channel is the one used for this review.

KEF Reference 4C Review (Center Speaker)

*sigh* First, and to reiterate, it is not an issue. Our reclining chairs mean we can sit at a comfortable viewing angle with the TV in its current position without cranking our necks up for hours at a time. I know, we've done it more than once, and have been using the setup for almost a decade...

KEF Reference 4C Review (Center Speaker)

The front base of the speaker should be approximately six inches off the ground, plus or minus maybe a quarter inch, depending on how the feet are set up. I didn't measure the rear height, but the stand is built with an approximately 3-degree slope from front to rear. The angle was calculated...

KEF Reference 4C Review (Center Speaker)

I am using them as an LCR trio with fantastic results. For the center, I have it on a pair of isoAcoustics Aperta 200 stands to get it angled properly, For the L/R pair, I have a custom pair of stands that a woodworker associate of mine put together for me for a modest cost. Those are also on...

KEF Reference 4C Review (Center Speaker)

IIRC, I got the best results with my room and subs with my crossover set at 70Hz.

KEF Reference 4C Review (Center Speaker)

I'm not in a position to measure, but my recollection is that it's 3/4" oak boards, with 3/4" oak plywood base. I don't know the specifics on the joining for the caps, as they were built for me by a friend who works in a woodworking shop.

Legacy Wavelet Attempted Review (Speaker Processor)

So I did want to post a quick update on this particular unit. I reached out to Legacy Audio regarding the review and testing results here. Their customer service rep had me confirm a few details about the unit, including the serial number, long-past warranty expiration build date, and the fact...

Legacy Wavelet Attempted Review (Speaker Processor)

Usually, I think they just end up reselling it to people who don't know about or don't care about objective testing results. Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything like that. ;)

Legacy Wavelet Attempted Review (Speaker Processor)

Okay, so I've mostly been hanging my head in shame and not waiting to actually contribute to the conversation or admit ownership of it for how bad this thing tested, but seriously, my room's not *that* bad. For a little context, I bought this particular Wavelet unit used because it...

KEF Reference 4C Review (Center Speaker)

From my own subjective listening perspective, while the Q family is generally of good quality for its price point, there were substantial differences between the clarity and overall sound of the Q950 and the R11 towers. The latter offered much higher overall sound quality across the spectrum of...

KEF Reference 4C Review (Center Speaker)

In case anyone is interested, I just this morning got some pictures of the finished construction, pre-stain/lacquer stands that are being constructed to support my Reference 4c L/R speaker pair. They're constructed to permit filling the base with dampening material and set with mounting...

KEF Reference 4C Review (Center Speaker)

Why would I need to? As far as I can measure, their drivers are in the exact same orientation and spacing as the Reference 5's arrangement in that configuration. The only difference is the vertical height, and that's what the stands are for.

KEF Reference 4C Review (Center Speaker)

Because a pair of the centers stood on end option cost significantly less than the towers. This is true even if you factor in getting some custom stands manufactured to get them angled correctly & elevated off the floor, as I have.

KEF Reference 4C Review (Center Speaker)

I'm no expert here, but I'd have thought you'd want to have a matching or bigger-sized woofer on the center, but its speaker body might not need to be as physically large as the L/R pair. This is true with the Reference 5/4c pair, and similar to how the Revel Salon2 and Voice2 have 8" drivers...

KEF Reference 4C Review (Center Speaker)

Even more so when you consider that it's possible to get them for $5250 a speaker, rather than $7500. Assuming you're willing to accept the finish option and the possibility that what you're getting may be B-stock.
