Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

A bold (but very relevant) claim. From my brief searches there used to be a setting called Full Dynamic Range that when on would disable this. Does that not work? Or is it not there or something?

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

I'm anticipating the Nuprime-X H16-AES release - it could complement the Okto really well and open a few doors. If for whatever reason your desired source device only has Optical SPDIF output; could something like the Sonos Optical Audio Adapter (+cable) in one of the Nuprime HDMI inputs be...

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

I can't find any real explanation as to how that layer of encryption is serving the reduction of jitter. It can be inferred it would help detect it, as a form of off-label flow control, but how is it reducing that jitter? Is the buffer involved in that encryption actually doing that part? I'm...

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

This might be a stupid question, but is that using the "SmartLink" outputs on the Meridian? Can the Genelecs decrypt the data? Have I got this right? Why any product would add encryption to unencrypted data where signal privacy isn't needed is a mystery to me.

Surge Protector Recommendation (Impact SQ?) w/ 1449 UL

Owner and user of an Eaton 9SX Online double conversion UPS. It might be the age of certain stages of the power filtering, but if I use single-ended RCA and sensitive speakers such as the Q Acoustic Concept 20s, the battery charger onboard the UPS actually introduces an annoying audible noise...

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

That's positive. For us Okto users, I suppose this means you're plain sailing if you're using AES mode. If one used the dual USB/AES mode on the Okto to do room correction in software, would you still have to adjust the USB host driver sample rate for different HDMI source material? I may be...

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

Apologies if you're all already aware of all this but since I mentioned the Okto's third-party firmware, feel like it's responsible to link to relevant info in-case others tunnel vision into it that and flash the generic firmwares. It's quite flexible; you technically sacrifice some DSP...

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

I'm still rocking USB at the moment - but haven't abandoned the idea in the OP. I did however get an Okto since starting the thread. I've since deep-dived on the third-party DSP firmware, which is fairly powerful and worth looking into. Although when using all AES inputs you're limited to 264...

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

Looks like a powerful bit of kit. Although I'm a bit wary of the artificial software channel limitations. I suppose it's in keeping with the territory. Can't speak to it's sonic performance in any way. Correct me if I'm wrong...Your remote control options would be the Trinnov app (Windows...

That's cool, can the HAPI take in DSD over Ravenna? I'm guessing the list of DAC/AVRs that can take DSD over Ravenna is pretty small.

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

Is that wise? I sought to only use the digital transport elements on the Blustream given it's not intended as audiophile hardware, and there's no data on the DAC performance. I don't imagine it would be a grave step down or anything but it seems like a step backwards given the top shelf speakers...

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

I should have suspected this really, in computer world KVMs have very similar issues when you start to crank up the res/frequency/colour demands. KVMs that reliably deliver DP 1.4 specs were hard to come by for a while. Marvellous! rtings really are great aren't they.

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

To be honest, there's not a particular reason either way, I was just a bit tunnel visioned on the literal specs I suppose. It seems only the very high end units support 8K, for better or worse being in the middle of the chain. These limitations are moot if you're using eARC, yeah. I had an LG...

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

Is it with a sort of fixed crossover point? I can't see any details in the manual aside from this in a screenshot. I'm a bit ignorant of Genelec, but I can see the 8341A has DIP switches on the back so you can configure some bass roll-off, but does the GLM stuff apply HPF/LPF alongside the...

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

Honestly, if the Genelec monitors are at the core of your project, you might have to double-down on their ecosystem; the I/O of the 8341s seem suited to the mega AV/specialist units or the ecosystems kit. The analogue alternatives mean making the 8341s functionally passive speakers, which isn't...

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

It seems the SW42DA is available B2C now, which is great. I've had to pause this quest for now but I'd love to hear if anyone uses this for its Atmos breakout for home AV. Be very curious to know if the proposed setup with something like the Sonifex Dante/AES67->AES3 would introduce much latency...

Possible solution for DTS/Dolby/Atmos+eARC+HDCP to AES/EBU - via Dante? (for Okto DAC8PRO etc)

I've not practically used AES3 before, it was designed for broadcast from what I've read. But as kyuu pointed out, they're stereo pairs of AES3, and there's 8 of those pairs. There are 2 DB-25 input/outputs on the rear of the unit. Using the adapter, each of these can output 4 XLRs of AES3...

I'd be interested to know if you have a take on the Goldberg-esque proposition in #7. Trying to keep things legal and "bring your own DAC" to HT, seems a pipedream without entering 5 figures with Trinnov or Storm Audio. You have previous with the Okto and from what I can see in other threads a...

Okto DAC8 Pro - open to new orders

Unfortunately I do have grounding issues. I was also looking at one to address a different situation in another setup too so thought it wouldn't hurt. Perhaps a rash decision, wallet-wise.

Okto DAC8 Pro - open to new orders

Also been looking at the various ways to square unbalanced inputs on a sub with an Okto. I see folks in this thread with (double!) Rythmik F18s, with those native XLR inputs available and it makes makes me a new shade of green. :) I have 2 Lundahl LL1584-3FXPHM XLR to RCA unbalanced...
