    Rega integrated amplifiers - good?

Interesting. Just to add my 10p, I recently demoed a Brio against a Powernode and preferred the Brio. My mate bought a Node+Brio, over the Powernode. The Rega amps I've demoed (Io, Brio, Elex 4, Ellicit 5 and Aethos) were all pretty good. The Io and Brio were vivid and vibrant, and had good...

    What amp would you buy?

My comments weren't meant as arguments. They were simply a description of my experience. Sure, 'buy test and return' generates good data, but i didn't want to do that, practically. I bought from a local dealer, as I know him well and his room (with my speakers and source), and any issues can be...

    What amp would you buy?

I'd get a H390 (and did). At that kind of money (£3.25k), I wanted to hear it myself, whereas that wasn't quite possible with the Hypex/Purifi/D amps. Warranty was also a consideration.

My Kingdom For A Remote Volume Knob! can this be made?

I've just found this thread, looking for exactly what everyone else is looking for :) I have a Node streamer but want a decent rotary volume knob to control it. I find it hard to believe there isn't an IR remote with a rotary dial (beyond DIY or smartwatch).

    Arendal 1723 Towers best amplifier

Try the Hegel then. It doesn't have Dirac or tone controls or DSP or loudness... but it's a good amp.

Room acoustics - a full breakdown and analysis

Interesting setup, and some great data. I've no dsp experience, so feel free to dismiss this entirely :) but I've always found speakers quite close to my ears hard to set up, and have tended to push them further and further away to sort it out. If it was my room (and it looks like a lovely room...

    Arendal 1723 Towers best amplifier

On one hand you say you want a 'simple amp, simple structure, easy use, nothing fancy' but then say you want it 'customisable'. The Yamaha does have YPAO and tone controls but it sounds like these aren't what you are looking for, or haven't given you a sound you like. The Yamaha isn't what you...

    Pre out or subwoofer out

REL always said high-level was the best way (and they offered line-in too) as it aligned and integrated with the amp better. I've never done a back-to-back so couldn't say otherwise. Subs are all about placement and setup (level and frequency) in my experience, and a definite improvement for...

    Pre out or subwoofer out

Some amps let you send a 'trimmed' signal to the main L&R speakers, rather than the full signal. That way the main speakers are getting an 'easier' life, as is the amp itself. The sub then handles the low frequencies. This is only possible if you use the sub-out socket from the amp to the sub...

    Pre out or subwoofer out

REL subs advocate high-level connection (speaker-level), and that's what I've always done in my stereo setup, with various REL and BK subs, and it works well. They supply a speakon connector so connecting the wires at the sub end is easy. One downside is that you can't apply a low pass filter...

    Yamaha R-N803 Smart Receiver Review

I have a 803D and I've found the YPAO does change the sound slightly, but not so much 'improve' it. The sound is a tad smoother with it engaged but in my room (my workshop) it's not a big deal so I tend to leave it switched off, as I sometimes alter the tone controls when I'm listening really...
