    Just Discovered Go Go Penguin

Go Go Penguin is great! I saw them live 2 years ago at the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis. Portico Quartet and Mammal Hands are two other bands that have a similar vibe that you would probably also like if you aren't already familiar.

    New Philharmonic BMR HT Towers

I bought GiK panels works really well

Yeah, windows are bad for both soundproofing and for movies, and this is a dedicated soundproof theater. The soundproofing lets me listen at full volume any time I want without disturbing the neighbors in their house that's 10 feet from mine. Most of the time the room has no lights on and movies...

I bought GiK panels works really well

Interesting. You are definitely the only person who's said that. Every response I've had has been the opposite.

I bought GiK panels works really well

Some quick math says well over 90% usable floor area remains, even in my small room. For volume, all my panels add up to roughly 6% of the rooms volume, so 94% of the room's volume remains. It's a fully dedicated space designed with the panels as part of it, so in reality they aren't any in the...

Recommendation for super small PC speakers (nearfield)

I got a pair of iLoud Micro's for my wife's office a couple of years ago. They sound pretty good for their diminutive size, and the room correction/calibration actually works pretty well. I think for the price they are a fairly decent package.

Buckeye Amps: Purifi 1ET6525SA (the successor to the 1ET400A)

    1. No, I did not disconnect them, yet. I noticed during my original setup of the Denon that if I changed anything in the speaker layout config, it would invalidate the Dirac calibration and it gets cleared out. I noticed this when I changed something else (maybe sub setup or something), and from...

Buckeye Amps: Purifi 1ET6525SA (the successor to the 1ET400A)

Yes, it happened! :) I haven't ran a re-calibration yet due to time, so instead I did a quick and crude levels adjustment by running REW sweeps. With the amp on high-gain, I had to boost the 3 channels about 4.5 dB to get the same levels in my sweeps at the MLP as the on-board Denon amps. For...

Anyone compare the SB17 Ultra to Rhythmik F18?

How about 110 dB? This is 2x F18s plus 2 JL e112s, but the JLs contribute nothing below 20 Hz. I could swap my e112's for two more F18's to flatten it out a lot more, but I'm pretty happy with this. Room gain is my buddy in my small room. For sure if the OP has a big open space to fill, ported...

Anyone compare the SB17 Ultra to Rhythmik F18?

That graph above that goes flat to 10 Hz is an example one good reason (room gain). Size is another good reason.

The kit we bought, our current setups

This took me a bit over 6 years (half of that was a project break), but I finally finished my dedicated soundproof home theater and listening room about a week ago. I've posted about it a few times in other threads, but not all the details. The room was almost entirely DIY from conception to...

Buckeye Amps: Purifi 1ET6525SA (the successor to the 1ET400A)

My new 3 channel 1ET6525SA Buckeye amp for my theater just showed up! It'll be hanging off a Denon X4800H to power my Philharmonic HT Towers and Center. There is probably some over-kill here, but I needed external amps to do Atmos anyway, so why not go big!? Delivery time was exactly as...

I bought GiK panels works really well

Here is an update to the above, and then I'm done. :) The graphs I had posted were pre-calibration. The graphs below are after running Dirac Live Bass Control, leading to even greater improvements. This system goes flat down to 10Hz (with a nice 7 dB tilt from left to right). I did compression...

    Truthear GATE $17 IEM Review

I bought some IEMs probably 8+ years ago, and they just fell out after a few minutes. My wife got the AirPod things, and I tried them, and they also fell out. I have since decided I don't care about IEMs because I don't feel like hunt is worth it... to find some that fit correctly AND sound...

I bought GiK panels works really well

I finished up my theater and all of my GIK panels are installed, and I'm very happy with the results! A total of 27 panels. Of those panels, 20% are absorption (7.3" Monster Traps on front wall) and the other 80% are absorber/diffusors (6" Alpha panels everywhere else, except a 4" panel on the...

Who has a 7.1.4 Atmos setup?

I've had a 5.1 system in my life since 1998, one way or another (several systems in different homes), but never beyond that, other than adding a second sub. Until now! In the last week, I've just completed building a dedicated/soundproof/treated 7.4.4 listening/movie room, but I'm still waiting...

Should I exchange my Philharmonic Audio HTs for Genelec 8361a's?

I've only been listening to my HT's for 5 days (finally finished my theater!), but the wide soundstage presentation is fantastic! They are in a small room, just 14' wide by 12' deep (soundproofed, sealed, and treated), and I feel the HTs soundstage really helps make the room sound bigger than it is.

    Soundproofing a room in basement

The two folks above that linked you to the theater building forum on AVS have sent you to the right place. Go there an ask your questions. I just finished (as in last week) building a soundproof room in my basement, and most of what I learned about the process I learned there. That forum is...
