Is there any reason for car speakers and subwoofers to require significantly more powerful amplifiers (in terms of watts) than home use equivalents?

Hoffman’s Iron Laws of Speaker. If you want deep bass in a small enclosure efficiently will suffer. Car is also a noisy environment so you probably need a bit more dB. And a bit more dB require a lot more power. But don't judge all car amps so badly. Yes some brands claim unreal power but some...

S.M.S.L. SU-1 Dac listening fatigue, headache.

For me linear frequency response cause fatigue. So I always eq for a downward slope -like the harman/jbl house curve. Maybe OP should purchase an equalizer so he can tailor the sound to he's personal preference.

Source for the dac would be my wiim pro. So I would probably use Optical connection to avoid any ground issues. So just to confirm the su-1 does not enter Standby mode when power is interrupted?

    SMSL SU-1 Stereo DAC Review

I know im gonna get slapped for this but I actually enjoy MQA o_O -and I have kind of promised my wife not to spend more money on hifi this year... My HIFI rack is hidden in my attic. Is it possible to turn the SU-1 ON/OFF with a smart power socket?

Fosi Audio BT30D PRO TPA3255 "Subjective review"

What power brick do you have? My 36V is about as loose as most other power bricks. Treble and bass in middle position should give you neutral sound. But high-frequency output varies a bit with speaker impedance. So if your speakers are 4 ohm you might have to adjust the treble down. Your room...

I swear my speakers sound more silky in high pressure weather! But honestly I believe the key word here is illusion. Are your cables long? Try measuring the resistance and do the math...

This last phrase nails it. Couldn't agree more! I have spent a few hours enjoying various music from my chn-110 mltl speakers today. Sure speakers playing downwards from a ceiling can't replicate a true live experience. But with a little eq I can't stop moving my feet and singing along. Pure...

I actually do have a new fosi v3 that I could try for comparison, but I am pretty sure it would measure any different except at high frequencies where the v3 peaks with 8ohm speakers. At high volume it would probably also clip. I do think it's quite remarkable that two different amps both...

When Damping factor reach 100 going any higher doesn't really matter because wires becomes the limit. So going from 20 to 50 should change more than going from 50 to 150.

Regarding damping factor. I measured one of my chn110 speakers with two different vintage amps. My old onkyo has a low damping factor of 20, while my old sonys damping is 50. They measured identical. My chn110 speakers are based on Scotts design St. Helens, but modified with a front-facing port...

Sure bass reflex is easy. But when you have done various sealed, vented, isobaric and bandpass. Horn or TL might be a welcome challenge. Compared with commercial speakers Diy is seldom the easy route... What is normal music? Guess you mean acoustic music... Yes bass E string is 41hz but that...

Personally I think Fletcher Munson curve is flawed. Isn't Psychoacoustic smoothing supposed to show the response like humans hear it?

Check post #109 Not finished yet Need to cutout the vents. Secure the enclosures to the rafts. Round the chamfered driver cutouts Paint the cuts Also want to up the cables from 2.5mm² to 4mm² because they will have to be 11-13 meters.

That off axis response looks quite enjoyable. Personally I find flat response boring, so I don't really get why so many make it such a huge deal. Is that genelec without any smoothing? Anyway genelec use somekind of internal dsp right? Seems like chn110 have a tendency to peak around 17khz...
