    Marantz CD6007 Review (CD Player)

The headamp is excellent. I've had the original CD63, next the 63KI and for me the 6007 is better than both.

    Fosi v3 Mono - User Impressions | Owner's Thread

are you talking from theory or practice. I've used active cooling via computer fans on hybrid amps - noise was never an issue when sound damping techniques were used and internal temps. matched room temperature. In the 1950s white papers proved that cooling of both passive and active components...

    Fosi v3 Mono - User Impressions | Owner's Thread

Passive cooling is never as effective as active cooling

    Fosi v3 Mono - User Impressions | Owner's Thread

Complete waste of time - remove the attractive but useless perforated orange plates, sit the amps on their side and use a computer fan to quickly reduce the operating temperature and enjoy the sound of well engineered amps - simple.

Can anyone explain the vinyl renaissance?

After years listening to music using first an AR and then Rega belt drives, my first d/d was a Technics SL-120 and that was a real shock - where was the noise. Then seeing a rec. for the best of the Japanese d/ds I bought a s/hand Kenwood KD990 - I could never think about buying a belt drive...

Can anyone explain the vinyl renaissance?

I bought a lot of 'audiophile' vinyl in the 90s' I wish I had bought more. At a car boot sale in the early 90s I bought an ECM - Making Music - Zakir Hussain/John McLaughlin/Jan Gabarek/Hariprasad Chauprasaria - there is no noise only music, near the end of side 1, Jan Gabarek comes storming in...

Can anyone explain the vinyl renaissance?

Again not an argument over vinyl v CD/streaming BUT to get the best from a vinyl system you must have as near to silence from a t/t. The Japanese d/d t/ts did just this The Kenwood KD/KP series (among others) did just this - wow/flutter 0.02% WRMS - rumble -80dB weighted. These decks came with...

What is the deal with expensive HiFi racks?

You havn't stated what the floor was, very important. In the UK I used to live in a ground floor apartment. When the street door was slammed shut in the house next door even with using a deck on a wall shelf the stylus would jump.

What is the deal with expensive HiFi racks?

Most commercial racks are made to look 'good' WAF factor and cost. I made my own about 15 years ago using - 2 Lidls TV/VCR racks (cost about €20 each). Discarded the shelves, bought veneered MDF cut to size. Had Norwegian Sound Care spikes welded onto the bottom chromed steel tubes. Used steel...

Fosi Audio V3 Mono Amplifier Review

not a good idea to stack the amps and then with the DAC on top. If you use all three vertically on two pieces of narrow stone or wood with the orange side pieces removed you will create a flow of air - conduction current. This will seriously lower the operating temperature and life of the...

Regrets in buying super expensive components

I had a Dutch friend who bought locally in Groningen/Freisland handmade 1uF silver foil coupling caps about €120 per piece. He persuaded me to buy them too. They were very good. However a couple of weeks later I read a thread on diyaudio started by a London doctor who had spent serious money on...

    Why do humans like jazz?

If you want the best example of where Jazz grew out of the music of African slaves it comes not from the USA but Brazil where slavery wasn't abolished until 1888.. If for whatever reason I could only save 30 of my 1000 odd LPs then Sergio Mendes & Brazil 77 - Primal Roots would be one of those...

Denon/Marantz - the end is near

It's sad but true, I think you have absolutely nailed it with this post. Going to the 'flicks' (cinema) for the Brits in the 50s'/60s' was a given. Those huge screens to see Lawrence of Arabia, South Pacific or ground breaking films like Clockwork Orange, 2001. The last time I went to the...

Fosi Audio V3 op-amp rolling, has anyone tried it? Snake oil? Or are there actual differences?

As always what is missing is - the listening tests. What individual people hear - is what they hear. To insult what people hear and tell them they are deluded etc. etc. actually says a lot of those who repeatedly make these insulting comments. Being profiled individually by an experienced...

    Marantz CD6007 Review (CD Player)

At long last I shall undertake digitising about 3-400 LPs and about 100CDs. Question - I don't want or need to have any cover art or track info, I just want to have the LP info and nothing else - is this possible?

    Marantz CD6007 Review (CD Player)

    I had a 63KI and I have the 6007 - the 6007 is definitely better soundwise.

Fosi Audio V3 Mono Amplifier Review

Not surprising you've missed the point completely. Mark spent a lot of money putting together a completely analogue studio. He was interviewed on the brilliant BBC radio show Late Night Junction by Verity Sharpe. He wished he had put this project together a lot earlier, it would have cost him a...
