I've replaced my desktop setup with mobile and loving it

Ah ok I thought you were just using the one device rather than using one to stream to the other. Definitely a tablet used for control is nicer than using a phone, but honestly I find the Bubble UPNP interface pretty good.

I've replaced my desktop setup with mobile and loving it

Ok so the way I've got it set up on mine is via two phones. I'm using an old phone that I'm not using anymore (Samsung S20) with bubbleUPNP installed and configured as a DLNA server so it can receive music. Its plugged in all the time to the charger and plugged into the DAC which plugs into the...

They are DIY open baffle that I did late 2018. Version 2.0 of my previous open baffle I built in 2013. This time bigger and better :)

I've replaced my desktop setup with mobile and loving it

So I used to have a silent PC running JRiver (actually I do still have it but its off) and it would feed a couple full sized or non mobile dacs. One was a Soncoz SGD1 and the other was an old DAT player I'd use as a DAC (sounded a tad warmer). I was feeding both out of a USB to SPDIF adapter...

Am I the only one that enjoys using an obsolete DAT player as their DAC :)

Awesome! I checked it out. Ya its pretty amazing for something of that age to be competitive. I guess proper design is proper design even if from many years back.

I'd be curious what you end up thinking of the test once you do it. I mean its possible all of what I'm hearing as "this is better than that" is in my head. I've never had anyone help me with any kind of blind testing and as object as I'm trying to be, I'm still flawed LOL

Oh interesting and thank you for that info. Appreciated No. 5 :)

    Speaker frequency response (in room)

Oh nice. I assume then my Dayton USB mic which as one calibration file, is for forward measurements.

    Speaker frequency response (in room)

Oh interesting. Ok I have to check this out. I typically use the Dayton USB calibrated mic. I have to see how its designed then. Thank you.

    Speaker frequency response (in room)

Yes I have a correction file. I'm not sure why we are going through all this LOL. Has nothing to do with my question, which was "do most people point the microphone forward between the two loudspeakers when doing a measurement with room taken into consideration or do as some suggest which is to...

    Speaker frequency response (in room)

Ah ok perfect. Ya its more for full range so in that case pointing forward to center then is the best way for me. Its what I did so great. Thank you :)

    Speaker frequency response (in room)

Any RTA software where you're not running any kind of gated measurement and any calibrated directional microphone - example, the Dayton calibrated Mic or the Behringer ECM8000 or the DBX one.

    Speaker frequency response (in room)

right, its what I did, but do you point it between the two loudspeakers or up like I've read some people do?

    Speaker frequency response (in room)

If I was to measure the frequency response of the system at the listening position (which of course takes room reflections into account), do I take my measurement mic and point it between the two loudspeakers? I've read online that some point it up which to me seems like it would lose lots of...

Am I the only one that enjoys using an obsolete DAT player as their DAC :)

OMG that is awesome information. I'm keeping everything you wrote as bible for this gear :) As for the Sony in my collection, it was indeed having some sort of head issue so it was landed in the pile as a result. Well they all had some sort of head related issue I guess. I think the Fostex...

Am I the only one that enjoys using an obsolete DAT player as their DAC :)

Oh thats pretty awesome - but why not try to use it as a DAC rather than a DAT. I find mine to sound phenomenal. I prever all my DAT players over my previous Ares II DAC which I sold and slightly more than my Soncoz SGD1. They are of course limited for bitrate but sound quality wise they seem...
