Holographic depth soundstage and 3d impression 2025

Yes and now I'm more confused because I'm not talking about anything the engineer intended.

Holographic depth soundstage and 3d impression 2025

Have you ever experienced it with speakers? I'm starting to wonder if certain perceptions don't really come across to everyone. I mean I totally understand the point from sound engineering view but it seems that you don't quite know what I describe as I don't see why you're so dismissive?

Holographic depth soundstage and 3d impression 2025

Well, as I said, I feel it's fault but in certain amount a very nice fault. This is a thread of preference and how we hear and value things, not really looking for text book good performance. I can use my own mixes as a reference if I want, so I'm really talking about speakers. Avantgarde Zeros...

Holographic depth soundstage and 3d impression 2025

I think the point of this thread is the opposite but it's just a bit hard to quantify. Some speakers are very good and very neutral but don't do "holography" or "envelopment" worth extra mentioning. With these speakers we hear what the engineer intended, or at least very close. And we hear...

    Who buys $20,000 components?

    Source components, no. Speakers, perhaps.

How much have AD and DA chips advanced in RME units from Fireface 800 to current lineup?

Ah, ok, then just get UFX III. It seems to have it all and measured performance is as good as it gets. Edit: something sounding clearly better implies there was something wrong with the previous gen. There is nothing wrong with RME so what's there to gain? Also, I'd be cautious with any claims...

How much have AD and DA chips advanced in RME units from Fireface 800 to current lineup?

Isn't the biggest thing in UFX III MADI? If you have all the i/o you need in 802 I'm not sure what you're looking for? The performance will be great with both and cited specs are accurate.

Yes, I mean recordings. I was a bit vague there. I do soundwork myself so I'm familiar what's in the recordings. Speakers do some layering of their own depending on the placement and if we go to SHL5 + 300B combo I mentioned it may become quite surreal sometimes.

Holographic depth soundstage and 3d impression 2025

As I said, I find it more interesting. :) I like some depth but I'm not that particular to it. And many of my favourites don't even have much depth or not at all.

Marten Miles did well in main position and farther back. All speakers have their spot but these are not very picky about it. I know how to position speakers, their size and limits included. Of course I can make Debuts or similar sound pretty decent but they never reach the presence and tangible...

Holographic depth soundstage and 3d impression 2025

I don't quite agree that any speaker can provide holographic feel and same goes for enveloping. For example Marten are good at both but no matter how I like Elac Debuts for the price they don't do anything worth mentioning.

AP Mastering: "Nyquist theorem debunked: why 44.1kHz sounds bad"

We get digital stairsteps at 0:12. And of course rabbit ear quotes on "Nyquist theorem". I really don't see another point in watching than macabre interest. Which I have so let's see how this rips.

I find envelopment much more interesting than depth. Totem speaker (with all their quirks) handle this nicely for my ear.

Holographic depth soundstage and 3d impression 2025

As a someone who makes music and sounds I find this a bit odd statement. I can't very well mix a track expecting a speaker x to push something for me. This is an interesting matter of taste thing. Sometimes 2D is much more relaxing to listen to. I usually position my speakers only for a slight...

    Headphones recommendations for enjoyment?

You can't really go wrong with Sennheiser but $500 is really a lot for 650. You can get them here for 350€ (tax included) and I think that's high-ish but ok. The Drop price is excellent. $600 is good for Arya, worth it, I think.

    Headphones recommendations for enjoyment?

I haven't tried Meze but out of the rest Arya easily. 660S would be next. Hmm... Let's say I'd take both, clearly different enough to my ears but good. Why settle with one. :) Sharpness is an interesting thing. I quite enjoyed even the old HE-560 back when it was released but some thought it...

I could hear the difference. But why.

Well, enough distortion makes me feel uneasy and you lose some clarity and perceived soundstage. But that requires a lot.

I could hear the difference. But why.

Wouldn't it be better to first try if you really can hear a difference? If you can then we can look for an explanation. And what kind of difference? HDMI and an AV processor offer some interesting options.

Reality check - is this YouTube Noire X review total BS or not?

If you want subjective reviews then it's the same as with movies and music. Find a writer whose taste seems to match yours. Headphone fit and feel affects greatly both sound (objectively) and subjective analysis. A good reviewer should take a note of this and not bash cans that just don't work...
