It only goes up to 9! (well, 900)

Are there NO 'Recommended' AVR/AVP pre pros? (Or am I missing something?)

That is the case. The Denons listed are you best bet, and as abd0123 stated, turn off the amps. I'll speculate that either: - high quality 5.1/HDMI commodity chipsets are too expensive for low volume production (plus there's licensing costs) - high quality commodity multi-channel chipsets...

Recommendations for a good 5.1 home theatre processor ?

Thank you. I've heard good things about Audysey room EQ - I've used them with a NAD and the EQ produced good results for my room. No subs yet. I've been holding off until my confidence in evaluating the equipment and understanding the setup has increased. I think there's enough material out...

Recommendations for a good 5.1 home theatre processor ?

LOL As long as it works, and has a low noise floor. I'm likely to go with the Denon - the measurements look good. Most all of my listening is 2 channel, but _all_ of my inputs are HDMI/Digital. I'm not a headphone guy (although I've tried) ... so I'm stuck with dealing with the room...

Recommendations for a good 5.1 home theatre processor ?

Thank you. Yes, the Denon's look good. I wish they made something without the amps - for that mater, I wish someone made a good, affordable home theatre preamp without the amps. I've seen similar test results to those poster here as elsewhere - home theatre separates suffer from more noise in...

Recommendations for a good 5.1 home theatre processor ?

I'm looking into getting a home-theatre processor which will be used for listening to stereo and 5.1 digital signals (no records, etc...). Ideally input is HDMI, but other formats are fine as long as I can get something to convert from HDMI. Ideal output is analog XLR or RCA - digital outs are...

    Revel M8/M10 thoughts?

Was there a review of the M8s? I'm interested in one when it comes out - I'm particularly interested if they are tested in their "native environment": mounted drywall, without treatment. For that mater, I'm interested if the speakers here are tested in locations where they are meant to be...

    Sonos Five

I'm looking at getting a Sonos FIve and/or and Arc with some add-ons (Ones or the sub) and would love to see frequency response and distortion measurements along with environment measurements (rooms size, acoustic treatments). Has anyone seen any? With that, I've listened to the fives, and a...

    AVR/AVP preamp recommendations ...

I think I answered my own question, which brings up another question. (audio isn't my specialty so excuse the language if its imprecise). Looks likely that the chipsets that do HDMI don't want to do balanced out for XLR and the AES chips are designed for balanced output. I know HDMI...

    AVR/AVP preamp recommendations ...

I noticed that the only recommended AVPs have HDMI in and RCA out measurements. Why is this? The Monoprice Monolith HTP-1 has excellent XLR output stats for SNR and distortion but isn't recommended (granted it was only tested on the AES in).
