The eversolo emits a nasty noise (mainly DC) at the end of it's boot sequence. Since the Nilai is DC coupled, this noise is amplified. Poweramps are at full volume, always, that's why a preamp is needed. If the preamp is noisy, the amp amplifies the noise, that's what it's designed for.

Let me strongly doubt about thermals... One opamp per balanced leg is needed, 4 opamps is the minimum.

Agree with @pma , weight is a major issue. Another is that lower efficiency is not only an electrical consumption issue. Modern modules control the voltage of their supply rails and shutdown when it's becoming out of range. For an unregulated supply, lower efficiency means lower rails voltage...

I don't think that a non EU company can access OSS, for the simple reason that a VAT number is needed. There are specialized companies in EU handling this for East Asian sellers.

If I may share my personal tip for time optimisation in audio shows: turntable in the room = bad sound, no need to wait for any good surprise.
