    LP8v2 vs T8V for monitoring

Hello, I've been searching for studio monitors that'd fit me for a bit now, initially it wasn't that hard, I landed my choice on Kali Audio LP8v2 and Adam Audio T8V, but I found deciding whether I should buy Kali or Adam really hard. I don't really know which one should I choose, maybe at that...

    REW trace arithmetic - wrong?

    Thank you for response :)

    REW trace arithmetic - wrong?

Because random 3db peaks in low range, again, visually responses LITERALLY overlap each other (on 1/6 smoothing), 3db is really huge difference. While the "Regularisation" helps taming low-end it also drops >2khz response by 3db. With my fix implemented all the issues are eliminated + there's no...

    REW trace arithmetic - wrong?

My theory is that arithmetic is done on no smoothing and then the result is being smoothed. It's a discreet difference, but it's there (particularly in aggressive peaks/dips), somewhat comparable to averaging averages vs averaging elements of all averages Maybe it was introduced as a bug in >V5.20

    REW trace arithmetic - wrong?

It's in trace arithmetic window itself, looks like it's division exclusive. REW V5.20.13 I think I found out why I get such weird results, trace arithmetic doesn't take current smoothing into account, meaning it also calculated graph for +/- 5db peaks/dips caused by reflections. Would be...

    REW trace arithmetic - wrong?

I'm trying to use Trace arithmetic functionality of REW in order to calculate on-axis response of my condenser mic. YES, yes I know, 34mm true condenser capsule is "nowhere comparable" to 10mm electret capsule (of my UMIK), I'm just trying to get rough measurements, for fun. However, for some...

Orientation of mic while measuring stereo setup

Question is very trivial and indeed I always thought I knew how to do it correctly. Every audio measurements nomenclature assume the reader's knowledge of how to measure speakers. But, how to do it correctly? Here are two ways I could think of with their own caveats: 1. Make one 90 degree...

How should near-field response look like?

I don't really know what to look for, because obviously far-field is different than near-field. Should 1m response be flat? Maybe there should be rolloff just more gentle (3db instead of 6db)? Could someone hook me up with example near-field in-room measurements?

    Why "audiophiles" don't use VSTs?

"but they do alter the sound" - Yeah sure, but it's imprecise as hell! "Reverb", "Treble", "Bass" are very general terms. What reverb, how does the virtual room look like? What is the decay time? What is treble? >3khz? >4khz? It is 1khz difference and its totally noticeable, 3khz - 4khz is zone...

    Why "audiophiles" don't use VSTs?

No offense, but I don't know if you noticed the part "#SoftwareMasterRace + with TRANSPARENT speakers". I think high-end gear is a must, but colorization could be shifted from hardware to software entirely. But other than that, yes I highly agree with your answer

    Why "audiophiles" don't use VSTs?

I'm also on that side of spectrum, but many people like slightly warm sound, maybe with some air added and IMO we can't really fight with people taste. All I'm saying maybe subjectivists/audiophiles should move from #HardwareMasterRace to #SoftwareMasterRace + with TRANSPARENT speakers, just...

    Why "audiophiles" don't use VSTs?

Yes, so there is freedom of will for all people that'd decide to go with such solution. Thinking of that, I can imagine subjectivists comparing 2 same EQs just with different UI lol

    Why "audiophiles" don't use VSTs?

That's 100% right, but isn't that how sound is already colorized with rigs? Speakers don't choose if they want to distort vocals more than instrument ...well maybe there's an exception for K-Pop and Justin Bieber...

    Why "audiophiles" don't use VSTs?

I didn't think about it LOL

    Why "audiophiles" don't use VSTs?

Why "audiophiles" don't use VSTs? Concept is pretty clear - you would get objectively saying the most precise amp, speaker - entire audio rig - and then colorize signal digitally at source (well, you could route analog signal to the actual analog rig, but plugins mimic analog rigs so well...

    Very wide listener-speakers angle

Hey, I'm a software engineer and I really enjoy music (both listening to it and making/playing with it). I'm into audio (measurements, science behind it) since 2020. I want to get myself a pair of studio monitors - I don't trust the HiFi bs. My room is 4.5m x 3.5m x 2.5m and its empty as of now...

What budget speakers you like to see reviewed?

I am sorry, I cannot find any info about MR824 MK2 or MK1, looks like there's only one version of that product, but I found HR824 MK2. Is there a chance everyone was talking about the HR824 MK2?

What budget speakers you like to see reviewed?

Welp, they are going for roughly 179 euros on thomann.de, so i thought price will be about same in USA, 179 euros = 200~ bucks, quite cheap for 8 inch.
