Are you buying now because you anticipate higher prices?

I’ve fussed with Caddock resistors, but can’t think of any legit hifi application that could justify the cost. I’m optimistic that extreme USA tariffs won’t last long, but no promises that things will be exactly the same as before. And if I had holiday gift-buying plans, I might go shopping...

Fosi Audio DS1 can it be opened and repaired ? I have soldering station just need giudance.

Before tampering with it, I'd inquire whether it was covered by manufacturer's warranty. It can likely be repaired, but it will require skills and tools for working with tiny SMD devices, not your average hobbyist-grade stuff.

Do You Miss Knobs and Dials and Switches?

Power switch on my newly-built Douk amplifier is apparently manufactured under license from Taiwan's Highly Electric (I couldn't make this stuff up). While digging through my box of parts, I discovered that I had an original Highly-brand switch exactly like the one included in the kit, save that...

Master Jobs Needed / Offered Discussion Thread

I know this happens because a former employer would have me post job listings for positions which were held by non-USA citizens (H1B visa?) and I was told that the job listing was a necessary formality. As far as I know, they never seriously considered any applicants for those positions.

Are you buying now because you anticipate higher prices?

I was able to reproduce that using a different web browser (Edge) but when I logged into steampowered.com and checked again, the 512K refurb appeared again as an item I could add to my cart: Good luck.

Are you buying now because you anticipate higher prices?

I've been wanting to replace worn out clothing, and per this CNN article, USA Uniqlo shoppers won't see much immediate impact due to the the amount of inventory already in the USA, which is great for me, because I'm planning on shopping there later this week.

Are you buying now because you anticipate higher prices?

Are you looking at the USA site? I'm still seeing the 512K LCD refurbished unit @ $359, and all models currently available as new units.

Are you buying now because you anticipate higher prices?

I don't know the intricacies of global logistics, (perhaps @dualazmak does). But my layman's guess is that more cargo ships and containers are now available for goods destined for Canada. However, Canadian retaliatory tariffs on USA goods could complicate matters. For example, aforementioned...

Are you buying now because you anticipate higher prices?

In case anyone's into gaming, as of late April 2025, Steam in the USA has Steam Decks in stock, starting at 400 USD, with refurbished units selling at 20% discount. I've ordered one of the latter, as it seemed like a reasonably-priced way to access modern PC games as well as vintage stuff via...

Are you buying now because you anticipate higher prices?

An increasingly familiar sight for USA Aliexpress shoppers.

Might be fun if you submit the query in a language other than English and see if you get very different results.

Do You Regret Your Pre-ASR Audio Gear Choices of the past?

No regrets: I had fun, and even the mistakes were entertaining. But if I sound cheerful, it's because I also sold stuff as my interest waned: I even found buyers for those silly metal cone footers, not that I had much $$ "invested" in them. Sometimes, I made a profit, and other times, I regarded...

Are you buying now because you anticipate higher prices?

U.S. Americans wanting an E1DA product will have to be patient, as like many other sellers on AliExpress, he's suspended USA shipping. So have Anbernic, who specialize in handheld gaming systems. Amazon USA still shows some limited availability on some, but not all, products. But prices are...

TV commercials by Swedish director Roy Andersson

Until very recently, I've mostly known Andersson's work from his 2007 film Du levande ("You, The Living"), and hadn't been aware of his TV commercials:

Are you buying now because you anticipate higher prices?

I'd happily consider a new GR-Corolla if it's TCO were an insignificant percentage of my net worth (I wish!). But I personally wouldn't care to take on debt in order to acquire one.

Are you buying now because you anticipate higher prices?

The latest word, apparently uttered by You-know-who: [Tariffs on goods from PRC] “will not be as high as 145 per cent” [and] “it’ll come down substantially, but won’t be zero” There's also a pretty good podcast by Ezra Klein interviewing Thomas Friedman, as Friedman likens...

Are you buying now because you anticipate higher prices?

I'd be happy to consider USA-produced haw confections and roasted peanuts seasoned with Sichuan peppercorns.

Are you buying now because you anticipate higher prices?

And then there's this tea pet which I had been waffling over for months, and finally ordered @ $17, but which the seller has since repriced to $39.55. I am curious to discover what it is about Yixing purple clay which is so appealing.

Are you buying now because you anticipate higher prices?

I hear you, but even when stuff seemed super-cheap, I've had to resist the urge to buy, buy, buy, because I hate the decluttering that inevitably follows :D Even if the purchase price is very low, I still want stuff that's useful, or which improves my life in some way, beyond a short-lived...
