Hello, One difference tween the two systems is the the output impedence of the Hypex is far lower than most amps. Gives better "control" of the bass as a result. Less devication as the impedence curve of the speaker and its crossover network likely drasticaly vary.

True. But, at this price point I would expect a decent design to be able to drive most if not all headphones. Not that hard to do.

Hello All, While not putting down lower cost class D amps, you can get an amp that blows away most older amps in pretty much all ratings and prices - for around $1200. To me that is a steal. IMHO FWIW IE: Buckeye and others. Greg

Yep, some like some distortion (tubes provide) and think it is pleasant. Not a problem, tastes differ, but adding stuff into the signal is not accuracy.

Well, between personal tastes, personal hearing responses, room boundary issues and room size variations, there is a real need to have tone controls. Changing speakers for adjustments, is expensive and so much harder. FWIW.

Hello, As far as I can remember, GAN devices have the advantage of being able to make class d amps better by with the extra speed you can make the dead time even less than previously. Less distortion to correct for. Otherwise is just slightly more efficient transistor basically.
