    SMSL DL400

I bought an Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen 2 and was very impressed with it. For the most part, everything I listened to sounded better with it. It didn't completely address my complaints about the worst tracks (for example the one in which Robyn Adele Anderson's voice sounded distorted, like it was badly...

    Genelec The Ones, 120 colors

The colors are clearly a gimmick, but I have been using nothing but Genelec speakers for the last 25 years and I don't think anyone would be disappointed with their quality. They are a bit pricey, though.

eversolo dmp a6 gen 2 and Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2

FWIW - I use two Genelec (1029A) powered speakers and the subwoofer that was designed for them (the 7050A). The L and R speakers connect to the subwoofer through one set of cables and the subwoofer connects back to the speakers through another pair. In other words, the subwoofer handles the...

    Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen 2

Agreed. I just didn't appreciate how much the sound would improve by changing the streamer as well. Amazon Unlimited always seemed pretty unstable when streaming from my old iPad mini 2, even with the latest update.

    Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen 2

I just bought one of these. While I never tried the original and can't say how the latest version compares to it, I was very impressed with what I heard. It's my first dedicated streamer. (I had been using my old iPad mini 2, connected to a Loxjie D40 by USB and an Emotiva preamp up to this...

Can anyone explain the vinyl renaissance?

My impression is that audio technicians listen more to the quality of the recording than the performance it is trying to reproduce. I think most people mentally subtracted things like surface noise on records, and tape hiss on cassettes or reel to reel, and just paid attention to the music. (I...

    SMSL DL400

Loxjie asked me to write a review for the D60 shortly after I received it. I sent them a copy of my post above ("TWO STEPS FORWARD, ONE STEP BACK") and they still haven't run it. Maybe they didn't like what I said. Not cool. I'd reccomend the D40 Pro for the better LCD sreen. Or better yet the...

    DAC filters?

I have had 3 Loxjie DACs: the D30 (which I recently gave away), the D40 (the original, not the D40 "Pro"), and the D60. To my ears, they all had the same basic sonic characteristics, except that each successive version sounded a little less shrill in the higher frequencies and had more of what I...

    SMSL DL400

Yes. Too bright on the Loxjie version, as well.

    SMSL DL400

The Loxjie D60 has a "Dimmer" menu setting. You select the number of seconds and the whole display goes dark if you go for that amount of time without making a selection. I found that this works for me. Perhaps there is some setting on the DL400 as well?

    SMSL DL400

Okay, once I addressed the side issues (a bad speaker on some of my earliest tests, a poor wi-fi signal for a while, and finding the best DPPL settings to deal with dropouts, I was still left with distortion on some tracks when they are streamed from Amazon Music Unlimited (regardless of the...

    SMSL DL400

Better than Loxjie D60. At least some of the text seems like it would be readable from a comfortable listening distance with speakers.

    SMSL DL400

MORE ... Okay, I think I'm finally getting to the bottom of this problem, which is now affecting both my audio (D40) and my video (D60) systems. First of all, there definitely seems to be some issue with the streaming content, because it is happening on both systems and it occurs only on some...

    SMSL DL400

Also, apparently, the Loxjie D60 (for less money).

    SMSL DL400

Thanks. As stated above, the signal paths are as follows: LAN cable to Roku Ultra - Roku Ultra to TV via HDMI - TV to D60 via optical cable (at 480) - output to 3.1 Genelec powered speakers Wi-fi signal to iPad mini - iPad mini to D40 via USB (at 192) - output to 2 Genelec powered speakers...

    SMSL DL400

Thanks for your suggestions. - The D60 has a fixed volume or preamp mode, so it's running in that. - The D40 does not, so it's running with the volume at 100% and I am controlling the volume with the preamp. - The powered speakers for both systems run best with the volume at 50%, so I leave...

    SMSL DL400

I tried to create a new thread under DACs for this, but it wouldn't let me do so. Anyway, here are my first impressions of the Loxjie D60, which arrived yesterday. TWO STEPS FORWARD, ONE STEP BACK First, the good news ... What I immediately noticed when I plugged in the D60 and played a...

    Loxjie D40 - How Do I Change Preamp/Variable Mode?

I am moving my original Loxjie D40 (not the D40 Pro) from my video sound system to my main audio system. I had been using it as a preamp, controling the volume to my powered speakers by rotating the volume knob on the D40. Now I want to use it just as a DAC and control the volume with my...

    SMSL DL400

Thanks for all the info. I did end up ordering one from Hi-fi Express. I'll see how it goes (and sounds).

    SMSL DL400

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting this: Just for the hell of it, I asked Amazon if they would match the Hi-fi Express price for the D60. That way, I could use my credit card instead of PayPal and not have to worry if it had to be returned. Amazon said it checked into it for me and...
