Fosi Audio Box X5 Phono Preamp Review

Great performance at a cheap price.. but as someone already said, the input capacitance, for both MM and MC cartridges, is as much as important as the input resistance... as an example, I replaced the input capacitance (220pF) of my Marantz PM 6007 phono input board with some smaller 47pF...

    Understanding Vented Speaker Impedance

Hi Rick, this post is incredibly useful and I'm wondering why it had so few replies, now I have finally understood why my two vented speakers don't exactly match in amplitude of the first lower impedance peak (probably an air leakage in the port surround or in the woofer's mounting gasket)...

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

Hello Bob, probably you didn't read my first email with attention, I wrote unfortunately I discovered just now (and I discovered it by accident, opening one) that they used a different rockwool, if I had discovered it immediately I would have contacted them immediately and sent them back...

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

Lukas, This is the email from your Italian colleague Luca Mello Rella from August 2021 replying to my questions about the rockwool used (see attachment) and he also attached the datasheet of the Knauf ECOSE rockwool. So I definitely bought my panels thinking to buy ECOSE rockwool but you...

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

Yes is true, if you buy something different from what they declare is correct to have a refund, if you like to be cheated is your taste. Best.

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

Morning Lukas, in order: a) about the smell: I gave my smellish Tri-Trap to the courier MBE last year, as agreed (I have the emails), your courier missed the first pickup but then picked it up at second attempt a couple of days after, so you should check with your employees in Poland dept...

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

Yes, very bad experience. My complaint is not about acoustic performance, they are fine in this and do their job (in conjunction with the Addictive Sound ones), that is to lower the RT60 of my big 90m^3 living room from the initial 750/800ms to the 350/400ms actual one above 80/100Hz. So you...

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

I change air every day at least a couple of hours, when I arrive home from job, I have mosquito nets and railings in all the windows and I usually keep some windows open during the night too if outside is not too cold, so I assume is not a problem of scarce ventilation. For sure venting the...

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

Hahahah, quite funny...They ALL smell the same, I don't think they ALL have dead rodent inside... and is not a bio smell, not a dead one.

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

So you allow your panels will be covered of dust? I can't imagine how many dust mites you will have on your panels... in my living room, where humidity is around 50% or 60%, if I don't vacuum them every week or so they will cover soon of dust, and the dust smell is for sure worst than the actual...

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

Hi Amir, yes you are right, but a thin "non-woven fabric" by 30gr/m^2 (the white one you use to cover outside plants in winter) is practically transparent at low and mid frequencies, probably could be more reflective starting from some kHz. All the DIY video on Youtube I saw before deciding to...

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

At the beginning, the first two or three weeks, they smelled a lot but this is quite normal, they remained in their nylon envelope during the transport and probably at the factory too. After some weeks the smell reduced but it never disappeared completely, sadly.

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

I will try to reply to some questions: a) I opened one of my Tri-Trap bass-traps (see image ), not a 244 planar broadband panel. The person from GIK acoustics confirmed me they don't use any non-woven fabric, so I assume that neither the 244 panels have the non woven fabric inside, the white...

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

No, but I found a post on the web where a guy opened a premium panel and the non-woven fabric is clearly visible.

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

No, my complaint is about the fact they declare a thing (to use "ecological" rockwool) but do another one (use a cheaper standard Isover one), and don't put any "non woven fabric" layer under the outer canvas to avoid the rockwool particles can exit the panel. It's not a bio smell, not smell...

Question about logos on GIK acoustic panels

I have GIK panels and bass traps too, the logo fell off easily and I glued it. Anyway they are RUBBISH, see my post.

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

Yes I had, and they tell me that everything is fine in this way, as I wrote above. So for them is fine to cheat Clients declaring that they use ECOSE rockwool and instead put in their panels the more common Isover. Very bad.

Please don't buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, they are rubbish!

Hi everyone, This post is to warn you not to buy acoustic panels from GIK Acoustics, and I'll explain why. Three years ago, I decided to make an acoustic treatment in my living room (that I use for Hi-Fi listening and Home Theater) and, as I don’t want to make them by myself (even if I could...

    Luxman AS-50R Speaker Selector Review

Thanks Amir for this test, very interesting item. If I would buy it I would use it in "reverse mode" as amplifier selector, that is connecting two different amplifiers (Hi-Fi and HT ones) to "A" and "B" terminals and the main L and R speakers to "Common" terminals, in order to use my tower...
