TANCHJIM Space Portable Headphone Adapter Review

If you need "crazy PEQ" on power-hungry full-size headphones with very loud volume, that indeed requires a different type of gear. But that exotic case isn't by any means a reason to consider the Space underpowered.

TANCHJIM Space Portable Headphone Adapter Review

Also pressing simultaneously vol+ and vol- to switch Hi/Lo gain. But your point 3 is the one that is a very common reason for people to claim low volume and a UX/UI issue in UAPP. I remember writing to Ivan that the first E1DA is underpowered years ago, just to figure out that there was that...

TANCHJIM Space Portable Headphone Adapter Review

The FR which is flat to 20hz reveals that if you hear little to no bass you are obviously an audiophile (hearing illusions).

TANCHJIM Space Portable Headphone Adapter Review

"performance to be too weak for PEQ" That's something I couldn't understand. What is weak vs strong in your understanding, and how does the difference between the two affect the applicability of PEQ?

Yep, also a very similar one. There are alternatives, which is good!

You should have read the thread man! :) Yes, they don't have them anymore. But you have many options, a very similar one is JBL 306P MkII. Like really, really similar in all terms: Sound, Size, Price, also active.

    Thomann/Swissonic A306 - Review & Measurements by Erin

I am on a trip and the only measurement I have is a photo of the latest version of Dirac Live measurements screen. Sorry for the low quality. (Based on 17 point measurements done by MiniDSP SHD using a calibrated UMIK-1 with its own calibration profile installed. Measurements were repeated...

On Android at least you can change them in the application and it shows you which one you are using.

Even didn't have to change their oil and tyres so far! Did several blind abx with much more expensive speakers (~15x) which are also very linear in their FR. All friends who participated were amazed by their blind preference being the A306. As a clarification, to my ears tge twi sets were...

What are your top 3 IEM ?

You should try them (always a good idea before commenting). Actual experience with them is smoother than the graph due to the use of piezoelectric/bone conduction plus micro-planar drivers for the HF, and good work on the x-overs. I dislike any flavour of heavily boosted HF but my actual...

What are your top 3 IEM ?

Out of 50ish iems (ranging from $15 to $1400): 1. Thieaudio Monarch III 2. Kiwi ears Quintet 3. Thieaudio Oracle II / 7Hz Timeless AE - a tie Happy to go into details, comparisons or answer questions if needed. Will skip them here not to make this unnecessarily long.

Which IEM with ~500 to 1k budget

For the Bluetooth, I used all of these and some other. The one that clearly has the edge is the Shanling MW200. It is rarely found so that's why many forget it or haven't tried it. Still available new on eBay directly from a Chinese seller, who is a good seller btw. For the iems, I have all of...

TANCHJIM Space Portable Headphone Adapter Review

The cable from AliExpress shown above is actually a very good option. No sound or other issues, robust but flexible. It is the cable that Tempotec provides with the Sonata BHD Pro. As seen in the photo below. Here are some typical cables in the sub $100 dongle tier. The E1DA is not shown with...

TANCHJIM Space Portable Headphone Adapter Review

These are usually cheap anyway, so better look for one that fits your requirements but has higher quality not lower price. A poor cable can cause issues that affect the sound. It's a pity to introduce issues to such great dongle due to few bucks difference. I personally use the Space with...

    Thomann/Swissonic A306 - Review & Measurements by Erin

I don't mind the logo, but consider covering the led as it is distracting, especially when watching in the dark. This stuff would probably be noticeable as it has different color, reflectivity and surface smoothness compared to the polymer used for the front of the speaker. I often used similar...

    Thomann/Swissonic A306 - Review & Measurements by Erin

A little bit of vinyl goes a long way in terms of integrating the A306 design into a living room instead of a studio.

I would send the unit back to Thomann to fix the issue. And would negotiate the shipping on them as it was misleadingly sold as 100% working.

    Thomann/Swissonic A306 - Review & Measurements by Erin

I turned off my dirac calibration and sub management and did a lot of listening. While I don't disagree with you theoretically, in practice I just don't get any "lovely cacophony of port noise and other distortion". Erin's objective test and subjective impression don't support that either. I...

    Thomann/Swissonic A306 - Review & Measurements by Erin

Yes that's something that would make sense mostly at lower volumes, indeed. Probably not a valuable idea on my side. Most use them with a sub anyway and 50hz is below the x-over frequency one would use. Also, the A306 already goes very low for their size and type of speaker. Thanks again!

    Thomann/Swissonic A306 - Review & Measurements by Erin

Amazing work, thanks!! Since you will revise the project, would it be possible to extend the low end before rolling it off from the current 50hz to 45hz, it isn't a big difference but why not if the speakers can manage it.
