Its always XLR in XLR out or RCA in RCA out. The amps are either balanced (XLR) or RCA only so no crossing.

Do you need the preamp part, the 3E audio has some good performance and is cheaper. DAC with volume and Amp would give you volume control. 3E Audiophonics I quickly looked, I think this is the same Ncore module here

Would be awesome to test those as well, quite a few 2 way DIY speakers floating around, but 3 way with ribbon tweeter is a bit different.

Why do you need to solder it to the board? The board has a connector for a plug with cables. The xlr or trs you moint to the case and join the wires up... or did I miss something

Had you not told me...I wouldn't have known! The preamp volume wasn't super high - didn't really notice tbh. Speakers CSS p215x.

I just ran RCA to XLR and it works...was pretty loud... bit as above not ideal due to lost power
