They probably skimped on the power supply buffer or the reference voltage buffer for the DACs. LF signals cause significant droop on the rail or the reference et voilà, LF distortion. I suspect the Wiim Pro Plus had the same problem initially.

Not really. They are that expensive on Aliexpress, too. I looked at the audiophonics prices in December / January, and they were level, maybe a tad cheaper even than in Aliexpress. Unlike the 3e modules, which were about 30% cheaper on Aliexpress.

- 67 dB 3rd harmonic is audible in my experience. If you don't use the DAC, you get - 80 dB which may be inaudible (in my experience, it may still make for a tired sound), but if you don't need a DAC, buy a D1 which has much lower distortion.
