Clearly the best sub out of all measured, group delay is excellent even with DSP, so is deep end, the best for music, but price is crazy.

For music you'd need a non DSP sub and preferably sealed, like REL, most DSP subs have poor group delay (other than B&W DB4S) which makes 2-ch music bass sound mushy. I'd suggest 2x REL HT/1205 or even 1510, in room they easily go down to 15 Hz, very fast and tight bass.

Just measured Yamaha RX-A3080 pre-outs vs Denon AVR-4800H in REW, in direct pure mode, at 3V output - Yamaha actually does better:

VLC is a good player. Just setup as simple free UPNP/DLNA server on your Mac and VLC and most other front end players with discover your music. I use minimServer, 1.x version, it just works, even for DSD files.

Stay away from class D amps, look at the professional reviews those amps cannot even pass standard square wave tests, show visible and substantial distortions. Class D amps outside of their use in subwoofers is another snake oil to squeeze money out of people which think they are "audiophiles".

Arcam support was rather quick - yes to both my questions. And they said apparently PAL/NTSC is not relevant in HDMI world. I have seen reports from owners of Denon/Marantz switching to Arcam AVRs and noticing sound quality improvement - going to try myself too.
