Bookshelf speakers, small room, close to wall.

I guess it’s only the higher end Dynaudios made in Denmark now :/

Bookshelf speakers, small room, close to wall.

Dynaudio Evoke 10 would work, they come with foam bungs if being placed close to the wall. Not super efficient but are happy to take a lot of punishment at high volumes. Emit 20s are cheaper, with a bigger woofer, from the base model range. Dynaudio are generally not fatiguing over long...

$10,000 budget for mains. Used/New, what are you buying?

Dynaudio Focus 50 actives with built in Dirac Live would be my pick. Dynaudio are very non fatiguing imo. Plus you could sell all the amps and streamers and break even

    WiiM Ultra Streamer Preamp Review

It is as good as the little NAD phono stage I’m using now. Which cost about 50% of the Ultra

    WiiM Ultra Streamer Preamp Review

And yet the two most important features beyond streaming for me are phono input for my relatively inexpensive turntable and digital cox out to my active monitors. They already have products without phono input and coax out so I’m glad they added these features.

    WiiM Ultra Streamer Preamp Review

To connect to active speakers with coax input is a need. Preferable than going through the DAC only to feed back into an ADC. It’s one of the features, along with room correction that is critical for my use case.

    WiiM Ultra Streamer Preamp Review

For my use case it is almost perfect. Digital outs to my active speakers. Sub out. Room correction. Phono input. HDMI input. The only thing it’s missing for me is AirPlay. The eversolo a6 is more than twice the cost. No sub out. No HDMI in. No phono. No room correction iirc. The a8 is 5...

Neumann KH-120 II vs Genelec 8030c for casual desktop use

I use a Douk Audio U2 usb to SPDIF adapter to connect my Mac Mini digitally to my active Dynaudio speakers. It does its job perfectly and I did think it sounded better than going out the Mac mini 3.5 mm output into the Dynaudio analogue input. I used to have KH120s on my desk and thought they...

    KEF Q Meta is Coming

Whilst very different in a lot of ways, this is what the Amphion One25a does. Point source/time aligned mid and tweeter handing off to a 10” sub crossed over at 100hz. But the bass driver is big and it’s active.

Listening Room Build + Treatment is #1, then #2 Just Room Treatment both superior to just Room EQ

Exactly. Turning on an eq does not place a light mask over the sound. I didn’t say that. Sure. And zero music recordings you have ever heard were made without EQ filters. I’d rather have good room correction and a good room. But a good room is very hard to achieve. Especially for...

Listening Room Build + Treatment is #1, then #2 Just Room Treatment both superior to just Room EQ

I think this overlooks the fact that the actual sound has already been processed by scores of eqs, filters and other digital signal processing in its recording, mixing and mastering. “The actual sound” you are hearing is not “pure” in that sense. One more EQ is not going to place “a light mask...

Radiant Acoustics Clarity 6.2 - Purifi based compact speaker

Nowhere do they say that the break in period is audible. It may well be that the drivers take 24 hours before they measure to spec due to mechanical break in. It would make sense to include it in the specs, in case someone measures the speakers straight out of the box. Im not sure it’s fair to...

Active monitors with deep low end

To get down anywhere near 20Hz an 8” driver will need to be heavily DSP adjusted. This will increase distortion and reduce SPL output. You can find the occasional active monitor that will boost the bass at low listening levels and gradually reduce the bass extension as you raise the volume...

    $20k for dream 2.0 or 2.1 rig

Luckily for me, my house is on a lake! But I spent a lot of my time there inside on the dance floor. I thought it sounded great. But then again my memories of that place were always a little hazy

    $20k for dream 2.0 or 2.1 rig

Following the recent Geithain 901 thread I was reminded of that setup in Club Der Visionare. Since I mainly listen to electronic music my dream rig would definitely be to recreate that club in my lounge room.

New (or updated?) system recommendation (Budget: 3000 euro)

According to Amirs review Audyssey XT32 is pretty good. There are a few tips for adjusting the target curve if you haven’t done that. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/audyssey-room-eq-review.12746/ I doubt Dirac live would be miles better. I didn’t realise that your...

    MUM-10 STUDIO MONITORS

Console reflections will typically give you a boost centred around 200hz. It’s possible that the 200hz dip on the MUM8 is either there to reduce desk reflections, or it’s possible that the monitor was tuned by ear in a studio and they have overcompensated for the console bounce they were...

New (or updated?) system recommendation (Budget: 3000 euro)

IMO the biggest speaker upgrade you can make is Room Correction and a sub. Once you have a sub, then room correction is even better for reducing peaks and also if you’re placing your speakers close to a wall. Some Denon gear can run Dirac live.
