3D Printed Acoustic Lens for Sound Dispersion

Thank you all for the feedback. I have found a 6-inch paper cone midrange driver and I am in the process of making a larger lens to fit this and a baffle to do some more tests. I will keep you all updated.

Just at 10cm from the center of the driver with a UMIK-1.

3D Printed Acoustic Lens for Sound Dispersion

I should have been more clear. What I provided is the difference between the 0 degree and the 45 degree measurement, with and without the lens. I would follow up with the separate measurements later.

3D Printed Acoustic Lens for Sound Dispersion

This driver does have a phase plug. That is a very good point. I will perhaps try it on a different driver. Thank you for your feedback!

3D Printed Acoustic Lens for Sound Dispersion

Hey guys, I am trying to reduce the high frequency beaming effect on a pair of speakers and I found this solution. I found this cool paper on a semi-sperecal shape acoustic lens. Result from paper. I'm not seeing anything even close to this in my experiment. I modeled my own version and...

    Moondrop May USB-C Headphones Review

As an Asian man who have spent decades in both eastern and western cultures, I am not at all offended by the discussion and such assumptions. In fact, I think it is important that @Somafunk and many other members in the thread are bringing the issue into view, because, unfortunately, many...

    TANCHJIM KARA IEM Review

Thanks! By reference point for FR, do you mean overlay the frequency response of the product under test with another frequency response from a well known product?

    TANCHJIM KARA IEM Review

Yeah, no wonder they need to discount it at extraordinary rates -- the N5505 is not that good. That said, I think the biggest factor for distortion and compression is driver type. Dynamic drivers far out perform BA drivers in this regard, and I think it might be why they have a reputation of...

    TANCHJIM KARA IEM Review

Thanks! I think it's a reasonable thing to check to find out limits in the design. I think it's best when viewed together with distortion measurements.

    TANCHJIM KARA IEM Review

Hello, this is a review of the TANCHJIM KARA IEM. This is my personal pair and costs US $179, but it is on sale on Amazon now for $143. This review will cover acoustic measurements of the TANCHJIM Kara IEM. Product Info, Physical Appearance and Size Kara is a hybrid IEM with 1 dynamic driver...

KEF R11 Meta Tower Speaker Review

Hello, I totally agree. I have been testing dynamic compression on headphones and it is also a problem on some of those.

KEF R11 Meta Tower Speaker Review

I’m working on a headphone review that include compression measurements of a few headphones. I measured with Ap and normalized with rew. I don’t think there is a easy way to do it in the ap software.

    New Kiwi Ears/Crinacle iem

I can't find any measurements on distortion. Have you found any?

    New Kiwi Ears/Crinacle iem

BA IEM's are already struggling with THD problems. I can't imagine why they would put out an IEM with only 1 BA driver and advertise it that way. Really curious about the distortion measurement on this one.

    DIY Omni Dodecahedron Speaker

Hello! Thank you so much for your offer to help! I just finished building this thing so it will be really interesting to see if your simulation can match measurements. I will send you the files in your DM.

Parts Express Customer Service Tells me to "Burn-in" Out-of-spec Drivers

This is really good experiment. Thank you for sharing. I also found this Klippel paper that explains some of the speaker aging behavior. https://www.klippel.de/fileadmin/klippel/Bilder/Know-How/Literature/Papers/Aging%20of%20loudspeaker%20suspension_Klippel.pdf
