Still trying to pull the trigger on some towers. 10,000 budget. Please help me decide.

I had the Sierra Tower RAAL v1 and agree they are tremendous. That said, after conversing with Ascend, I made the upgrade to ELX (cross-over, new bass & midrange drivers). These are a big step up from the originals. Can't go wrong for the price nor with Ascend - a real pleasure to do business...

Still trying to pull the trigger on some towers. 10,000 budget. Please help me decide.

I vote for the Ascend ELX Towers, either RAAL or Titan mainly depending on your musical tastes. Add the Horizon ELX center and you'd still have a couple of grand in your pocket.

    Phono cartridge service

Try Steve Leung (VAS Audio) or Peter Ledermann (Soundsmith), both on the US East Coast.

    Blu-ray is dying…

My OTA has more like 40 channels. As to streaming, I only have netflix (kept it as I made 6 figures on their stock), peacock, and amazon (as it comes with prime)

That’s because size matters in porn. Lol

Is there even a tiny bit of truth in all the marketing voodoo that audio cable manufacturers say? Or is it all BS?

Agree but there may be other external forces that would require additional damping. In my case, not sure if it was subwoofers vibration transferring up the rack or airborne vibration from speaker drivers at extremely loud volumes that I don't normally listen at..adding the Segue ISO cured that...

Is there even a tiny bit of truth in all the marketing voodoo that audio cable manufacturers say? Or is it all BS?

Yet again Darwin was proven right. Or as one of my former customers used to say, "Bad things happen to stupid people".

$3000 and up from a 2020 price list I found from a quick google search. My Symposium Segue Iso was a couple of hundred dollars, as I recall (B-Stock). Even new, they aren't overly expensive. That leaves around $2500 for more LPS :-)

Is there even a tiny bit of truth in all the marketing voodoo that audio cable manufacturers say? Or is it all BS?

gofishus as to 8, I think it depends on what isolation equipment and what component(s). For example, when I would turn up my system while listening to LPs, there would be feedback via the turntable. I put a Symposium Acoustics Segue ISO platform under it and, voila, no more feedback even at...

Denon/Marantz - the end is near

Selling less product not offset by higher margins, high inflation - consumers prioritize groceries over luxuries- higher interest rates (although I don’t know the terms of their debts), amongst other reasons I guess.

Here we go again. Subwoofer hum problem. Please help.

Hums with no RCA cable plugged into the sub? Maybe the sub amp is going bad (e.g. capacitor)? Maybe DC Offset (Emotiva makes a product to combat this, believe it's called CMX2) Any LED/Flourescent lights? Dimmer Switches? They can be a cause of hum.

Considering moving to Portugal as an ex pat.... input welcome.

LOL. I never trust the news but some of the "real estate sites" also indicate that market pricing is growing. I've seen anywhere from around 5% to 10% year over year.

Considering moving to Portugal as an ex pat.... input welcome.

I recall seeing on the news the other day that Vegas housing is becoming very unaffordable (perhaps worst in the US, if memory serves correct) due to the influx from the West Coast.

    My simple listening room

Maybe try moving the speakers (at least the one I see in the photo) out a bit from the corner (maybe another 6" from back wall and 6" from side wall).

Yeah, geese are awesome property protectors. Better than a dog. We’ve got 11 or so on our land in Brazil. They can be vicious

Or Panama (which is generally hurricane free and they use the US$, so no currency exchange fees).

Agree healthcare is very important. I'm sure there are other rankings which will look different...I just chose one from a google search. All depends on the methodology. I also find some of the rankings hard to believe from what I know/heard about some of those countries.

Prepaying (e.g. higher individual tax rates) for national health care is common in most, if not, all countries with such programs, AFAIK. It would be interesting to know how much extra tax one pays versus what we pay in the US for medical insurance premiums + copays + deductibles, along with...

Soandso - I agree that they bill that way to CYA from ambulance chasers (lawyers) but there is also a shareholder component added to the cost (insurance companies are in business to be profitable)...wonder if there should be more regulation - e.g. "fixed" ROI similar to what is imposed on...

Perhaps the weather but more likely the cost of living here in the States. FWIW, I'm nearing retirement (again - I did retire at 57 due to interest rate increase and impact it would have had on my lump sum pension) for a year but decided to go back to work for a bit, mainly because we bought...
