Can anyone explain the vinyl renaissance?

Sounds like you might prefer pure Class A amplification.

Can anyone explain the vinyl renaissance?

I suppose they also love Rice Krispies for breakfast.

Let's stop calling Class D amplifiers "efficient" when they are not.

Is it, really? I guess one needs to use something like a Kill-a-Watt to know for sure. Such tests would be a useful addition to the standard amirm suite in these climate-changed times.

Can anyone explain the vinyl renaissance?

Induction hobs give even better control and dynamic control. But you still prefer gas? BTW I also prefer gas, but I acknowledge that induction is objectively superior for control and speed.

Can anyone explain the vinyl renaissance?

Although I don't myself listen to vinyl any longer, I've come around to understanding a bit better, I think, what vinyl enthusiasts enjoy about the format. And in that regard it's a little like people who insist on cooking over a gas flame, or line-drying their laundry, or driving manual...

Question for the boomers: what was it like to live through major improvements in audio fidelity?

I'm a definite Boomer. What have been the "big improvements" I remember most? Solid state amplifiers with massive power, like the Ampzilla and the early SAEs. The headroom was fantastic, and remains so today! Non-traditional speaker designs like the Dahlquist DQ-10s and the Ohms. Man, I'd love...

MoFi SourcePoint 888 Review and Measurements by Erin

I'm very impressed with what Mr. Jones and his team have done with the MoFi line of speakers. I have no qualms about the engineering that's gone into them. Just wish they didn't look so hideous and (to my eyes) cheap.

    NAD C700 vs Wiim Ultra

I'm sorry, I thought we were talking about high fidelity.

Dan D’Agostino ... What the world needs now is a $250,000 power amplifier ...

Actually they're a work of Dan. I think his stuff is seriously cool looking. If I were Elon Musk, I'd own several. But I'd also need a platoon of bodyguards, so no thanks.

Wilson Audio Speakers: Why do people like them?

They sounded muddy to me (lack of sonic clarity). But full disclosure: I was not familiar with the source material.

Wilson Audio Speakers: Why do people like them?

I listened to a pair of Chronosonic XVX last summer in a "high-end" audio dealer's shop. They sounded terrible. Looked really cool, though.

Stereophile review of Philharmonic BMR Monitor

Reiteration of just what excellent speakers these are. Bravo, Dennis and team!

Wiim Ultra or Bluesound Nano Node......or should I just spend the money on the Eversolo DMP A6 Gen 2?

All the discussion about clocks, power supplies and other audiophile hoodoo about these systems is completely irrelevant. What matters is as follows: Does the device support your preferred streaming sources (e.g. Qobuz, Spotify, Amazon Music, Idagio, etc.)? Do you like the control app? Is its...

KEF R11 Meta Tower Speaker Review

KEF couldn't care less about whether I exist. The converse isn't true. My respect for what KEF does is unrelated to their affection for me, specifically. So far their products seem almost without exception to be very good performers and good values.

What makes a speaker boring or exciting ? and can it be measured?

I listen primarily to jazz and classical music. Yet I found that the best way to differentiate among speakers when I was shopping was listening to "Owner of a Lonely Heart." It's an extremely dynamic piece that highlights any muddiness and excessive resonances. The reason I chose KEF R11s is...

    Bluesound Node Icon Streamer Review

Streamers should be judged IMO primarily on the breadth of streaming sources they support, use convenience and flexibility. DACs are cheap, small and can be appended to the streamer's digital output easily. The DAC on this thing is flawed, though not fatally so. But I don't see a compelling...
