    Erin reviews GR-Research NX-Bravo

At the same time, it does seem like Erin gets more manufacturers sending him samples, which leads to him often getting to measure larger and more expensive speakers. Amir's brutal honestly mostly restricts him to what end users send him, and most users aren't willing to send their large main...

Message to golden-eared audiophiles posting at ASR for the first time...

I don’t think Matt was saying that the Klippel itself is limiting, but rather its lack of widespread adoption. Based on the way I read his post, I’d assume he agrees that full Klippel NFS datasets for every speaker would improve our ability to shop for the perfect speaker for us.

Most beautiful speakers in the world ?

4 or 5 years ago I did a semi blind test aimed at figuring out whether or not I preferred the sound of my speakers with or without the floor bounce absorbed. I had been researching false bottom floors filled with absorption, and figured I could kinda test it out by laying some 6” GIK absorbers...

KEF Blade 2 vs Ascend ELX Towers as End Game

I actually looks like the Blades have slightly wider dispersion than the Genelec Ones outside of the top octave, though not by much. They're surprisingly similar overall, even more-so than I remember from last time I compared .

Do you have prejudices that you can't get rid of? (Lets stick to audio)

There are definitely a few live versions out there I prefer, but for the most part, I agree that the studio version is usually better.

What's your vote for where the Law of Diminishing returns starts for tower speakers?

I just picked $1000 as it was the lowest option, but diminishing returns certainly start before that. I would have chosen cheaper had their been a cheaper option. Something like an $800(on sale) JBL Studio 590 probably scores within 10-15% of a ~$10,000(dealer price) Revel F328Be if you put the...

NAD M66 - finally someone makes a decent 2-channel preamp!

All speakers basically need some sort of dsp to sound their best, unless your listening room is the middle of a football field or something :p. In fact, the more full range the speaker is, the more it will be improved by good dsp. Not saying it can’t sound good without dsp, but a more even bass...

    Which sub would you get?

Can't go wrong with either. HSU and Rythmik are both best in class at most price points imo. Two 12"s are better than one 15", due to smoother overall response, but one 15" will beat one 12". Two 15"s will definitely beat two 12", but also take up more space.

How much better are The Ones compared to 8030c

I've had both 8030s and 8351s for 5 years or so now, but never really taken the time to truly compare them side by side, which is a shame. I'll do that this weekend and report back what I hear, maybe whip out the ABX Comparator :). My initial impression after firing up the 8351b for the first...

    PMC result6 Monitor Review

I'm not sure I agree with this interpretation of those studies. I agree with your first statement ("Harman's studies reveal that people are a lot less discriminatory with regards to neutrality in a stereo environment"), but I'd phrase your second statement more like "in other words, most people...

    PMC result6 Monitor Review

It could also simply be a business decision; they think they can sell more speakers by grabbing a larger slice of a smaller pie. Say you have 7 speaker shootout consisting of a Revel , a KEF, a Magico, a Grimm Audio, a D&D, a Kii, and a B&W. It wouldn't surprise me if the B&W ends up selling...

    Arendal 1528 high end speakers

Those look fantastic. Super rare to see a full range stand mount.

    Speakers w/Full-range Drivers

Yeah I wasn’t necessarily asking just you, but more the forum. Your post just sparked the light bulb in my head that made me ask the question. I’m genuinely curious what advantages/disadvantages a full range driver has in comparison to point source coax speakers.

    Speakers w/Full-range Drivers

What are the advantages/disadvantages of full range drivers in comparison to true point source coax speakers like the LS50 or Mofi 10, or even virtual point sources like Genelec Ones or Kef Blades?

    Does anyone else like FM?

I listen to FM in my car sometimes out of laziness or if wireless streaming is being finicky. That said I have the opposite impression of the sound. Streaming sounds noticeably better to my ears due to the lack of noise, even at the Spotify’s free tier bit rate(whatever that is?). I’m of the...

    Worst measuring loudspeaker?

I think for a lot of people it's simply the practicality and expense that holds them back. My guess is there are many audiophiles out there who acknowledge the clear superiority of multi channel playback, but can't implement it due to space limitations, budget limitations, significant other...

    Recommend speakers that disappear

I think there may be some disagreement on what "disappear" even means here. I think I'm more in agreement with @olieb and @Keith_W , though I basically agree with everything @goat76 said, that being: A higher ratio of direct sound does - to my ears - create a more convincing stereo image...

$20-25k budget. Currently eyeing Genelec 8361A, KEF Blade One Meta, and the B&W 801D4.

I think you have the right idea and you can't really go wrong with any of these options. I live in College Station, TX for most of the year and I have 8351Bs. I don't have the W371, though. I've thought about getting it several times, but I have some concerns about the directivity match right...

    Worst measuring loudspeaker?

That one actually looks slightly worse, imo, though not by much. It's close.

Master Thread: Are measurements Everything or Nothing?

I haven’t found that to be true, though I did kinda assume it to be true when I was first getting into the hobby. As I’ve gotten more experience, my thoughts have shifted closer to the opposite, in fact. These days, I tend to think monitor speakers make the best HiFi speakers at most price...
