I have a Wiim Ultra paired with my Onkyo TX-8150 receiver with RCA and Monitor Audio Silver 1 speakers. Is there any point in buying an external dac for the Wiim ultra for better sound quality?

It feels like it’s little soft and that I could get more from the HD660s.

I’ve just got the feeling that the Q3 is not powerful enough for the 150ohm HD660S that’s why I’m asking. Will I hear significant difference in sound quality with a more powerful dac/amp?

Aah so you are also going for the Powernode. How does your setup look like when you get it? Yes I know everything is on back order here in Sweden also but I think it will arrive in January according to my local dealer.

Now that you put it like this I think it’s a no-brainer. It will cost me a lot more to buy separate units if I want better sound quality, but the main reason I want the Powernode is for its simplicity and convenience. You have everything in the same unit and you don’t need any computer to play...

My only concern is the dac in the Powernode after I read @amirms review of the Node, I assume that the Powernode has the same dac? I can’t find any reviews of it in here. Otherwise the Powernode ticks all the boxes for my needs and I think it’s a fantastic all-in-one unit.

I have the Onkyo TX-8150 paired with Monitor Audio Silver 1 speakers. I would like to get a new network stereo so I don’t need to buy any streamers or Raspberry Pis to use with Roon and have looked at the Bluesound Powernode 2021. Would this be an upgrade in performance compared to my Onkyo?

It looks like my Onkyo network receivers coaxial and optical inputs only support up to 24/96 but with ethernet it supports 32/384.

I also have Audirvana and it plays 24/192 perfectly but in Roon I don’t get any sound even though it’s settings I set to 24/192 and the signal path also shows that all is ok. Very strange..

I don’t get this, I used to get 24/192 from MacBook Pro late 2013 with toslink through the headphone jack but not anymore. I have the option to choose 24/192 but when I start playing it jumps down to 24/96. I use Roon from the Mac. Is the MacBook not supporting it any longer??
