Erin's review of McIntosh MC462 power amplifier

Just sharing an interesting story about McIntosh amps used for outdoor venues.

    Best Ti3255 Amplifier >>>Aiyima? Fosi Audio? O-Noorus?

I'd just use the one that has the features you want/need and nothing more and call it a day. For me, I just want plain amps with nothing else but balanced/unbalanced inputs and some sort of auto power function. Fosi V3 Monos for me.

    Hifi amps with dsp.

There is no need to bi-amp although you could as you stated. Most AVRs are rated at 2 channels anyways and when you use any additional channels, it just distributes the available power based on that 2 channel rating so If you only want to use 2 channels, it's going to give you that full rated...

    Hifi amps with dsp.

When I look at the description for MiniDSP, it says it does not decode Dolby/DTS so are people using these mostly for tuning (room correction, crossovers, eq, delay) for music? How does it work as a "Home Theater" device if it can't decode home theater surround codecs? If you connect a TV via...

    Fosi v3 Mono - User Impressions | Owner's Thread

OK, it's been about a month with my V3 Mono amps so here is my review and impressions: Power – The power output of these compact amplifiers is impressive. Their ability to handle speakers down to 4 ohms (actually 2 ohms when I looked at the specs again), effectively doubling the output from...

Prices of Very Large Flat TVs are Falling Fast

Gotcha. My comment still stands about glossy vs. matte screens since this thread was mostly about the visual aspect of screens, just ignore my original source quote.

Prices of Very Large Flat TVs are Falling Fast

Same reason for sq that I prefer to only watch content where effort was put into the pq and sq on my ht setup. I want to see and hear the content in as close to what the creators intended as possible. It's such an obsession of mine that I have a huge backlog of content I want to watch, partially...

Prices of Very Large Flat TVs are Falling Fast

Great recommendation on Side By Side, I don’t remember all the details as I saw it when it came out at a screening where Keanu talked about it. For the cameras, there was absolutely an effort from the manufacturers to be able mimic film in order to get directors to sign on, especially early on...

Prices of Very Large Flat TVs are Falling Fast

Glossy and matte screens is one of the most annoying things in screen marketing to me. When most screens were glossy, you had to search for a matte screen option and it was usually a "premium" option and then it turned around where matte screens were the norm and glossy screens were "premium"...

As mentioned before, Sony has always been a major player in the TV/Monitor game so not surprising but as far as I heard, they get their OLED panels from LG but of course, they could put their own touch on things. I haven't paid attention to it most recently but I'll have to look into that since...

Ahhhh, I still have great memories of our family's 27" Trinitron XBR. That was a fantastic beast. Panasonic and JVC also had some really good CRTs back in those days. I still have a ~20 year old Samsung LCD that is going strong as a secondary TV and the Panasonic Plasma I got for my parents...

Fosi ZD3 -Balanced DAC (ESS 9039Q2M) - First Look!

I don't think there is any point in using an XLR to RCA adapter in this case because it will negate the additional output voltage anyways. Even if it didn't, you should be able to compensate by turning the gain down on the amp and in that case, it would mostly be an advantage imo.

What headphone(s) do you own ?

I was pleased to see all the posts about Koss Porta Pros here! I never knew they had such a following until I randomly remembered mine from way back in the day and searched for info on them. I was definitely surprised to see they are still being made because I've ever seen anyone use them except...

    Bi-Amping Question

Thanks! Yes, I spend most my time just enjoying but every once in a while I get a chance to tinker around a bit and I'm glad this time it led me here. Someday, when I have a dedicated home theater room and more time to play is when the madness (fun) will really take off!:p

    Bi-Amping Question

I meant madness in a fun way. The goal of all this is for me to enjoy my content and that's what I'm doing. I'm not going to discount the science behind any of this and appreciate the dedication to it here. I'm also not going to let science detract from my enjoyment and even if it is just in my...
