Of course it has been the better opamps of the last decade that made some of the exceptional products possible. But better opamps won't correct any design issues or weaknesses in other parts. I don't expect a discrete op-amp to be better even if they are more expensive. It would be interesting...

I am going for this release by The New Pornographers, they have been making great music for a few decades now. I especially like the accoustic live performances.

I own a pair of Scan Speak based diy speakers, with this woofer, glad to see these results. The Scan Speak units really are head and shoulders above anything else.

Good design is the answer. I suspect some of those engineers have experience with high frequency stuff like mobile phone signals etc, which makes designing for audio frequencies relatively easy.

How is that interesting? This is a DAC and the other two are transports. You can't compare them really...

Three things here. 1. A lot of devices turned on and the 18 dollars are adding up. 2. It isn't nice or good for the environment to just waste energy. 3. Leaving your device on all the time might decrease its lifetime.

When the device is in standby it is turned off and not warm.

That amp would be perfect as a base for a modulus-86, either as mono bloc or even stereo amp for not too power hungry applications.
