    Three things here. 1. A lot of devices turned on and the 18 dollars are adding up. 2. It isn't nice or good for the environment to just waste energy. 3. Leaving your device on all the time might decrease its lifetime.

    LM3886 Class AB "gainclone" chip-amps - DIY , kit and assembled since 1999...

    That amp would be perfect as a base for a modulus-86, either as mono bloc or even stereo amp for not too power hungry applications.
