The Azurys is fine, but the treble can be pretty uneven depending on the fit and positioning. They’re also pretty uncomfortable after not that long of a listening session with a hot spot directly on the top of the head.
I found the Fiio FT1 to not only be much more enjoyable and comfortable...
I tested out the R70xa and didn’t care for it. They murdered the soundstage and imaging of the original R70x, so here’s hoping the R50x is something special.
I know the review embargo is up on these tomorrow, so hopefully we get some good info.
If I recall correctly, I think the R50x are using the same driver design as the R70x. I’m pretty sure I read that somewhere but can’t remember where now!
Me too, but maybe with the new headband it won’t be as much of a problem and will be a little more comfortable. The wings do place the pads in some less than comfortable positions at times.
Of course… just bought the R70x a few weeks ago
Very interested in this though… hope it matches the excellent imaging and soundstage of the R70x. Maybe it’ll have slightly bigger ear pads. Very interesting!
I’m being cautious… I know that ignorance is bliss, but also near-perfect audio is another kind of bliss and it’s too late for me to go back to the former.
Thanks; I appreciate it! I'm only about a year into this black hole of information and am testing a few different devices to see which combo best suits my needs. I just want to make sure I don't have a setup that's overkill or redundant in some way.
Is it overkill to add an Atom Amp+ onto the SMSL DL100? I’m only driving HD 600’s, so my question is: will the additional power add anything substantial to the DAC/Amp combo of the DL100 (better dynamics, bass, etc.) or is it just overkill?
Thanks!
I had that exact same problem, so I opened it up to check it out. I discovered the little nut inside that tightens on the Bluetooth antenna was a bit loose. Open it up and give it a tighten and it'll be just fine.
This thing sounds amazing! Thanks for the heads up. Paired it up with a Topping E30 II Lite and my HD 600. I think I’ll be pretty content with this for a good long while!
Thanks again!
Whoa! This thing looks awesome. I'm definitely going to snag one. I see one for $88 so I'll test it out via Amazon.
Thanks for the tip! Will have to report back.
I’m having trouble deciding between the Heretic and the Magni+. Anyone have any feedback on sound differences? I definitely want one, I just don’t want the wrong one
Thanks! I'm fairly new to a lot of this and trying to figure out whether or not balanced makes a significant difference in sound... so far I'm gathering it does not unless you're running extremely long cables that are susceptible to noise?
Can anyone tell me why you'd want a 4.4mm headphone jack if it's not outputting more power? Like Amir says, is it just for convenience if you have your headphones set up with 4.4mm balanced cables and don't want to swap them out (or can't if you've modded your headphones)?
And would the 4.4 out...
Oof, I could not disagree with that more. If you want the HD 600 to lose detail and have more muddy low mids, then I guess it's an HD 600 killer. It certainly looks cooler with the brown pads and cream color chassis though.
