I don't know what you are driving, but there's no reason a 9" bass driver can't do what you need. It all depends on the speaker design. If your speakers are insufficient at the 60-100 Hz range, a subwoofer would certainly free them from the lower octave and increase your dynamic range potential...

I can assure you, if you have the power (I have 500 W/ch @ 4 Ohms on tap), the Grandis GR8s play VERY loudly (They are rated at 400 watts peak). However, you won't find me abusing my ears or speakers that way. 90dB peaks at my listening position is the maximum I listen to.

I guess he was tired of the hard dome tweeters getting pushed in bu people in the showroom, so he did a mockup of the tweeter using fabric. To his amazement, it sounded great and here we are now!

BTW For those who don't know, Phase Technology invented the Soft Dome tweeter (Or at least were the 1st to patent it).

This is surprising to me how badly these performed. I had their PC80/90 Sub/Sat system (Bought some 30+ years ago) and as I recall, were a wonderful performer.

There seems to be plenty of press on their other lines of speakers over the years. It's a shame really, as the Grandis line is a real standout and more people should know about them.

Edifier's glowing reviews are well deserved. What's strange, is the lack of press on the Grandis GR line. Having a somewhat unique look, tank like build quality, outstanding sound quality and being somewhat affordable, you'd think there would be reviews all over the place.
