    Topping D30Pro Review (Balanced DAC)

I have had my D30 Pro a week now and have had absolutely none drop-outs via toslink. My source is a Sonos Connect. The Flac files in my NAS are transferred by Roon.

FLAC-file in my NAS -> network 100 Mbit -> Primare I15 Prisma amp -> digital coax output -> Topping DX7 Pro -> 4.4 mm Pentaconn balanced headphone output -> Sennheiser HD660s -> my ears. Dynamic, detailed, open and punchy sound, I am really impressed!

Have you tried the opposite, setting LG Sound Sync to On? Anyway, when I Google 'oled toslink dropouts' I get 160000 results, so this fault seems to be a common one, not only for LG.

I had the same problem after I replaced the coax cable with a better one when the DX7 Pro was in standby. After a power off/waited a few minutes/power on, the dropouts did not show up again.

As @Veri wrote it is Sony's standard for balanced, using the Pentaconn plug. I am using my Sennheiser HD660s with the included 3 m cable with the 4.4 mm plug, connected to my Topping DX7 Pro. The connection is mechanically very stable and the sound coming out from the DX7 Pro is stunning.

No, it is not just you. You can count me in, I totally agree with you about the good sound of the DX7 Pro. The choice of DAC chip is only one of several parts. One of the most important parts is the analogue stage after the DAC and here has Topping really succeeded.

I am a bit confused about their answer that the headphone is not driven by LME49720, because in their own product information they say that it is (except the typo 47920): http://www.tpdz.net/products_detail/productId=44.html I still think there is a combination of the LME49720 and the AD8397.

Ok, then I have a theory. I might be totally wrong but maybe one half of the LME49720 is inverted to create a differential stage, feeding the dual AD8397 with a signal for the balanced headphone output, for each channel.

You are writing 122-123 volts, but that is above the low range of voltage settings. Is that why you have this problem maybe?

That's a good question. Hopefully you can get an answer also on that one.

    (1) I suppose you are using the highest level of light (3 different levels) for the display? I can understand if the display looks dim in a bright room. I am using the middle level of light, that works in my room, which is quite dark, lit by a number of smaller lamps. (2) I agree.
