We would significantly increase latency in order to achieve a perfect step response which is usually not desired and detrimental in studio environment/workflow. Most likely a cause of the mid/tweeter in the middle of the woofers with a crossover of 380Hz. In the near field this will certainly cause comb filtering issues. Others have noted similar descriptions of speakers with similar layouts/crossover points.
