    Help me understanding Dynamic Range

We need to understand what sound level readings mean. The recommended settings by NIOSH for the sound level meter is A weighting and slow response. A-weighting means we'll be ignoring much of the bass in the sound level measurement. So if some says the sound level is 90 dB, is it A-weighted? If...

    Help me understanding Dynamic Range

There are errors in your calculations. You are mixing ranges with absolute values in your calculations, for example: Let assume what you wrote about 18 bit music resolution is correct, and it is equal to 108 dB. This is a range, and it doesn't necessary mean it has to be 0 dBSPL to 108 dBSPL...

    Topping B100 Amplifier Review

Well, still the same kind of sub-optimal thermal designs as having horizontal fins. You want the natural convection air flow to rise from bottom to top.

But the total lack of ventilation holes in the amplifier case does not.

Another super simple beginner ? Correct sub connection?

The amplifier (and the accompanying electronics) of the subwoofer is commonly called the plate amplifier due to its form factor. See below for example. https://www.parts-express.com/speaker-components/subwoofer-plate-amplifiers

    MiniDSP Flex HTx

The routing and matrix mixer can indeed be used as analog input selector. But each selection will take up one preset configuration. Since there are only 4 presets, I don't know if that is the best use for them.

Master Thread: Are measurements Everything or Nothing?

What you said made no sense. Which speakers win these listening tests, both the mono and stereo ones? Not the best speakers?

    Does Op-amp Rolling Work?

It would be if you are watching the same size 42 inch screens 12 feet away. The difference between video screen and audio is that, in video, you can walk closer to the screen enough to see the individual pixels and tell the differences. In audio, not so much.

Master Thread: Are measurements Everything or Nothing?

How many times do we have to answer the same questions over and over again? Dr Toole, if you believe he is telling the truth, has said test using only one speaker is the most discriminating. Speakers that won in single speaker tests win the stereo tests too. He also pointed out that, outside of...

    Does Op-amp Rolling Work?

Took you a year before your first post! The answer to your question is perhaps the TPA amplifier that does the heavy lifting of the speaker level amplification? ... which points to the point (or lack of so) for this kind of op-amp rolling exercises.

    Does Op-amp Rolling Work?

Here are the two measurements side-by-side. The original amp review measurements had a slightly higher H3 (~ -92 dB @ 3 kHz) that accounted for the difference. The measurements after the 1 channel op-amp swap resulted in a ~ 2 dB reduction in the H3 spikes, but added some AC main spikes that...

When is a very slow or absent reconstruction filter not audible?

In the case of the Bluesound Node Icon, they do implement compensation for the first order hold (aka sample and hold) early roll off, and its FR is flat to 20 kHz.

Welcome to ASR! No. They will work just fine together. It only means you may (more likely may not) need to turn your volume knob a little bit lower.

Help. Past amp had a current of 45 amperes. New is 66 amperes. what does this spec mean?

It doesn't mean squat. If your speaker has a minimum impedance of 2 ohms. It will take the amp to output 132 V to drive 66 A though your speaker (assuming that meaningless rating is peak, that means 93 Vrms). That's also equivalent to an apparent power of (66/sqrt(2))^2 * 2 = 4356 VA [ apparent...

Is SINAD important? - "Myths" about measurements! [Video YT]

Below is quoted from this post by Dr Toole. https://audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/an-enticing-marketing-story-theory-without-measurement.7127/post-164402 ... The other point worth mentioning is that back in the early 1990s, at the NRC in Ottawa, I constructed a flexible-geometry...

Handling a complex load by power amplifiers

This is the frequency response into the complex dummy load. That means the distortions harmonics from the 1 kHz test signal will be magnified as well, thus contributing to the increase in the "measured" THD.

Welcome to ASR. My guess is selection bias, as it is rather impractical to have a McIntosh or Accuphase on your desktop so you don't hear about those?
