Bose NC700 Review (Noise Cancelling Headphone)

They do sound pretty crappy even with new pads. I wonder if the drivers were even designed as specific HiFi headphone transducers.

    New Sennheiser pads measured.

First I got them for 58X and then for 2022 6XX. The 4mm hole felt mod by Solderdude was removed with the new style pads. Somehow the 6XX sounds slightly nicer with the new OEM pads - I very rarely use the 6XX since 58X has more meaty low end and I use them with my portables with Wavelet (Moto...

    New Sennheiser pads measured.

Frankly I changed all my pads to newer style, especially on 6XX which already has too much of a low mids/upper bass hump. Too me the change was was drastic, for the good, even with the lightly used old style pads.

Hivi 3.1A DIY Speaker With Sehlin Mod Review

Populate the board and see if the components need to be 'strapped' to the board. Often other than really big heavy inductors or capacitors no extra help is needed other than a bit of glue. Forget hot glue as it will be PITA to remove the component if needed - I would just use a bit of silicone...

    Mechano23 Open-source DIY Speaker Review

You should be OK. More power is better than underpowered, distorting amp. I never saw burned voice coil from 'clean watts', even if occasionally the level was above rated power. Just remember these are very small speakers, so obviously they won't play loud or reproduce bass as well as larger...

ARRTI T10 Pro - PLANAR IEM

They're very tempting indeed. Other than very upper highs, the graph looks nice and smooth.

Differences in Klippel NFS Measurements Based on Enclosure Thickness and bracing

I think combination of both is best to lower resonances and dissipate energy stored in panels. Long time Michael Dzurko of Audio Concepts, well known DIY company from Wisconsin during 1990s and early 2000s, built a few monitors with Focal and ScanSpeak 7" woofers, Jaguar being the most ambitious...

Small 2-way speakers with linear on-axis and power response characteristics (Scan Speak and SB Acoustics drivers). H&V off-axis measurements included

Unfortunately the way midrange and tweeter output waves sum up in most loudspeaker prevents them from laying them down on the side. If look at radiation patterns, horizontal vs vertical, you will discover that there are places were the output varies in frequency when you measure them above and...

    Topping Hane IEM Review

I know it's not magic once you get to know them, but to someone who doesn't possess all the knowledge required to understand IEMs, some of them might will sound like magic. Ask regular, average person on the street and will have no idea what you are talking about, unless it'll be someone like...

    Topping Hane IEM Review

You can get more comfortable and nicer tips in SS size from number of tip makers. The very popular Spinfits are one of them. I brought Latex H570 Feaulle Wide bore tips - soft and grippy, way more comfortable than most stock tips. But I had to additionally correct EQ for my Galileo to compensate...

    LETSHUOER x GIZAUDIO Galileo

I got Feaulle H570 latex wide bore tips, I think recommended by Super reviewer. Very comfortable comparing to tips included with Galileo and grippy, so the IEMs don't slide out from ear canals. Additionally they come in MS size. They changed the sound drastically comparing to supplied narrow...

    Sennheiser HD660S Review (Headphone)

Also the newer Sennheiser pads used on 6** series are brighter than pre 2021 ear pads. They're stiffer so they don't affect the sound with time as much as the older ones. I don't know if Oratory revised the measurements for the newer pads. Solderdude posted the measurements comparison on ASR...

    Sennheiser HD660S Review (Headphone)

Did you try other EQs, say Oratory1990 EQ. While he boosts the 6-10kHz, he attenuates the area above 10kHz. It's also possible that your ear(s) creates resonance around 10kHz. I heard a few other people saying similar thing you mentioned with their hearing. BTW, the older GRAS 43AG-4 has 13kHz...

Newbie Question: Can This Headphone Measurement Be Right?

Bose... I was gifted lightly used Bose NC700. Comparing to any other of my headphones, ATH-M50X and EQued BT version, plus HD 598, 58X, 6XX they sound ..., well they don't particularly impress. I briefly heard the Apple full size cans, and other V- signature I couldn't find too many faults...

Newbie Question: Can This Headphone Measurement Be Right?

I would ask Solderdude from DIYaudioheaven, who often posts here on ASR. He uses flat baffle for measurements and specific correction curve. MiniDSP EARS is not that great and accurate especially compared to GRAS professional headphone measuring gear.

    New Sennheiser pads measured.

Just like Solderdude said, best to buy original Sennheiser pads, even though the new 2021 up pads are different from the older ones. They pretty much keep the original sound, just touch less warm. The new production HD6** series headphones use them and they are replacement for older marble HD600...

CSS Criton 3TD-X Kit Speaker Review

I understand the Center ch. is closed enclosure, so I little easier to deal with, however it still needs a bit space behind not sound overly warm. In worst case scenario some EQ should take care of it. The Mains - you can always convert the bass reflex to 'leaky port' by plugging the bass reflex...

CSS Criton 3TD-X Kit Speaker Review

The mid is out of phase, woofs and tw with positive polarity. I think the connected values are as stock as in CSS schematic. I will post the zip when I find a bit of time. It's winter tire season changeover ZOO in our garage, plus all the repairs before the snowfall, so I'm death tired when I...
