Rotel RB-1090 Strange behavior with XLR/RCA connections

I think that it is functioning just as an old school design might.

Maybe some EQ fun with this…

There are lots of semi-pro equalizers that can do about the same thing. But with more bands and independent Left & Right band controls.

That's a poor assumption, HAMs follow the rules. All interconnect cables need a heavy braided shield. Plug everything into the same AC wall outlet. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Jim Brown, retired Audio Engineering Society interference expert, is also a HAM radio operator. He has several...

I am hearing radio through my system... help!

If you do go with snap-on ferrite cores, place them as close to the chassis as practicable. The molded one piece cores with a hole thru the center are better, but that ship as sailed.

    Hum from a toroidal transformer

Get a "Kill-a-Watt" (or similar) AC power meter and check for high AC line voltage.

Why balanced XLR needs an inverted signal?

XLR pin 1 is the shield not a 'ground". True in most balanced output stages it has continuity to the audio circuit common. So in these cases, pin 2 and/or pin 3 to pin 1 may be half the signal level of pin2 to pin 3. But it's not true in some cases.

Ground/earth solution for class 2 amplifier with some voltage on the chassis

The above measurement assumes a correctly wired AC power circuit. No swapped wires, no bootleg grounds. Those little 3 LED testers won't catch most of those problems.

Ground/earth solution for class 2 amplifier with some voltage on the chassis

Well you could attach (bond) it to the wall outlet, that would be safe. But it's more effective to attach it to an audio component in the same system. From an audio point of view having all the chassis's at the same potential is more productive.

Ground/earth solution for class 2 amplifier with some voltage on the chassis

a Class II double insulated device that has a total plastic enclosure, should not be modified to ground its internal metal chassis. But if the amp has an exposed metal chassis, that means that just the power supply is double insulated. That phono ground lug can be connected to the chassis of...

60 Hz Hum/Buzz Only When Inputs Connected - Yamaha A760

The AC power supply is double insulated from the metal chassis. So scrape the paint under a screw off, and run a wire to the metal chassis of another component (with a metal chassis) that has a 3 wire cord.
