I went from the SMSL M8 with 9018 to the Topping E30. While the older M8 measures well, I feel like the E30 sounds better.

I had the F36 with an SB-2000 subwoofer for years and loved them. If a crazy deal on the F208 hadn't fallen in my lap, I would still be using the F36 today. The F36/36 provide amazing performance for the money.

For me the D50iii is very appealing since I keep the DAC in a cabinet and like the idea of being able to switch inputs using the Bluetooth remote.

I have relatively crappy old man hearing and I can hear the difference between 320 and lower files versus lossless files in multiple blind tests but you are correct that the mastering matters a lot especially when comparing versions from loudness wars years to ones with higher dynamic range.

Audyessy XT32 also crossed my F208 over at 40Hz to the sub. Play the song Snow by The Chemical Bros and it just vibrates the whole place.

If you mainly talking about movies and not multi channel music, then the side, rear, and height channels don't really need to be voice matched. I've used matched and unmatched surrounds over the years and can't say that it made any significant difference. Good speakers will sound good.

Also important to know if they are the ribbon tweeter version or the dome version.

Unfortunately the purchase of Harman by Samsung happened after the current line up was developed so we have no idea. I am unfortunately pessimistic about the impact of Samsung on new developments.

I went from the F36 which has somewhat similar low end specs as the F206 to the F208. Before the subs were crossed over by room calibration at 80hz. Now they are crossed over at 40Hz. For low volume listening, the subs sometime don't even turn on. If you have multiple really good subs then...

I believe Revel officially discontinued production of the Performa3 line in mid-2023 and expects to put out the Performa4 (or whatever it will be called) later this year (or maybe early next year)

I recently moved from the F36 to the F208, the F36 were great with a subwoofer and on paper look somewhat similar to the F206. The F208 could easily work for most music with a subwoofer. The F208 is very similar to the F36 except more bass and more distinct mids plus generally just better.
