Thoughts on Dirac Correction for a Less-than Loudspeaker ?

@Laika2 you can turn something that many hire consider broken to almost ideal but they are wrong that it's broken in the first place. I don't talk about Dirac but human brain use to do it with everything comprehensive DSP have to offer. As long as it's a good capable speaker with out obvious...

    Help me understanding Dynamic Range

No you can have more on PA and in nature and God help you with that (as you really don't want to). What you want instead is properly calibrated system with equal loudness compensation under and over the calibration point so you can have full DR even on moderate listening levels in generally...

Thoughts on Dirac Correction for a Less-than Loudspeaker ?

End game is just a myth same as unicorn. However objective good is close enough. If you think you will be able to clearly distinguish very good system scoring rather high (above 8) to one scoring little more in double blind test, well think again.

Thoughts on Dirac Correction for a Less-than Loudspeaker ?

If it's truly broken it can't. By that I mean even moderate deeps and physical limitations. Like broken or bad crossovers, fluffy let too far woofers and so on. It can make a half deacent speakers that aren't broken sound much, much better (actually most in such particular case) and with a lot...

    Help me understanding Dynamic Range

It's range that recorded materials go up and down from what you set as program 0 in dB or LUFS (the same). We psy perceive ±12 dB as twice as loud or twice as quiet. Anything that's in residential noise you won't be able to hear it so we elavate program 0 above it to DR negative it might go. For...

What's the point of floorstanding when we have subwoofers?

No you didn't understand me there. Time dalay simply grows there in shelf manner. New ISO 226 2012 and later try to adresa that. But it's really questionable if anything can follow that literally.

What's the point of floorstanding when we have subwoofers?

That's because timing delay increases so in the way it's self masking and we perceive it as tail.

6+ channel DAC with XLR outputs

Try to find Motu interface with enough output chenels that you need.

Another super simple beginner ? Correct sub connection?

Just plug single RCA LFE subwoofer output to R on sub and turn low pass filter all the way up they even used color coding (and adjust everything on AVR of course).

My understanding of the open baffle design trade offs

@gwing second sentence explains it. Slope decay 12 dB/octave, you get a bit higher max SPL but with higher and less linear excursion. I don't hate port it just always come as obsticle the way I use them (and to majority of people as let's face it it will be a small room close to the wall). I do...

Avantone CLA-10 (Yamaha NS-10M Clone) Review

    1. As said I chary picked to show physical bounderis and more typical port design dependencies. 2. Which directivity issue on ± 20° vertically? 3. A direct comparation as measured. 4. Nope, great majority of bookshelf's don't even today. Yes we do repeat our stuff quit a lot. In that regard...

Avantone CLA-10 (Yamaha NS-10M Clone) Review

Did it fall apart? Genelec did! Why wouldn't you use DSP this day's and age? You want me to bring up big horses from Yamaha and reworked to active DSP? There is a Japanese member proud with such NS-1000. You make layering and awareness to hot area in the back you want to work on exactly the...

What's the point of floorstanding when we have subwoofers?

I have idea. Could we come to any comprehensive analysis where there is least fundamental and true peeks in the suitable range in recorded music materials? And as making crossovers really ain't for everyone recomand that (if speakers can provide sufficiently) as well spot when less then ideal...

What's the point of floorstanding when we have subwoofers?

They sum full under 60 Hz and you safely add transition area to used model and slope. At 120 they are but it's not very perceptive if single sub is in centre. Simply using 2.2. I don't have to think about it and I do it for a group of reasons that high (120 Hz) deliberately, even good small 5.5"...

Avantone CLA-10 (Yamaha NS-10M Clone) Review

@thewas 1. obviously they can't from where port takes over. 2. NS is almost 9" and it's fair to compare 60 years old speakers to today's one with DSP? Put the DSP on both at least. 3. Doesn't make sense and as this is raw comparation don't you think that's cheating? 4. As on most speakers...

Avantone CLA-10 (Yamaha NS-10M Clone) Review

What can be corrected? It shows where port takes over, it also shows that particular Genelac won't be able to cope even with main bass peeks it will compress and fall apart. Phase correction to free field measurements... I mean really. Vertical directiviti of NS10M is fine in the range of ±20...

Avantone CLA-10 (Yamaha NS-10M Clone) Review

Chery picking but why not. Now my turn to do the same. I picked first Genelec I found with measurements done by Erin to keep data comparation in line. By the way this is much more typical behavior for given enclosure designs. Fun part is that even Spinorama deliberately didn't include any EQ...

What's the point of floorstanding when we have subwoofers?

I do it's packs, stand, sub, silicon and bookshelf's on top. I use laser pointer and angle tool. Put a pillow instead my head and aim. I horizontally spread them a little and it's more half lying position on sofa than siting so relatively low. Again why do you ask about tweaters?

What's the point of floorstanding when we have subwoofers?

Nope, why? I use stands for sub's.

What's the point of floorstanding when we have subwoofers?

If you build towers they can't use more space than already built towers and when you add sub's to towers guess what.
