Denon Replaces AKM AK4458 DAC IC in X4700H and X6700H

I think in practice there are no or very few analog playback devices that will noise more than what the AD of the AVR does. But it still feels kind of strange when buying a 3500 dollar product with this limitation. On the other hand, maybe (some) analog audio inputs will disapear in future...

Denon Replaces AKM AK4458 DAC IC in X4700H and X6700H

If this is about the analog to digital conversion. Also a lot poorer then models from 14 years ago. It is the weakest link in the receiver now I think. But not a problem if you are using digital sources. And if you connect a tape recorder... that will noise more than the AD from the reiceiver.

Denon Replaces AKM AK4458 DAC IC in X4700H and X6700H

I think not a problem normally in a (not dead-silent) livingroom. In a quiet dedicated cinemaroom with external amplification I think you will definitely notice the noise if you like to play loud. We are talking 14dB of a difference, on all channels (that adds up too in a way) that is not nothing.

Denon Replaces AKM AK4458 DAC IC in X4700H and X6700H

Such a shame that ADC The AVR-X6700H from the sucks. Do you know what they have used in the The AVR-X6800H for ADC? I think the ADC is only insterted in the signal path when needed. In pure direct almost no measurable noise. In Stereo mode also the same, exept when you turn the EQ on for...

Denon Replaces AKM AK4458 DAC IC in X4700H and X6700H

The bridge card in mine was verry tight, i did not want to damage things so i decided the remove the 40 (?) screws in the back to get the rear plate of. It was easy to do, just a lot of screws.

Denon Replaces AKM AK4458 DAC IC in X4700H and X6700H

I did some measurements and some listening in a quiet room, acoustically treated. My old 4310 sounds "just as good" as the 6700 when I just pass a stereo signal from analog in to zone 3 out or to pre-out. When you A-B between the source (Bypassing the AVR completely, taking it out of the chain)...

Denon Replaces AKM AK4458 DAC IC in X4700H and X6700H

I was wondering. What DAC board do I have in my 6700? I can't tell from the serial number becasue my entire AVR was replaced in spring 2021 due to a broken pre-out. They could not get the board so they just replaced the whole unit exept for the backplate (with the old serial number). They did...
