SMSL A100 class D amplifier test

"However, this brings troubles in the field of electromagnetic interference. My wifi staying near was almost paralysed." ???

    Class D high frequency problems.

I completely understand where you're coming from. A sprinkling of just the right added distortion components is more "entertaining" to my ear than a squeaky-clean signal. My Pass Aleph 3 circuit-based monoblocks with their two (2) amplification stages consisting of a single VFET front end...

Fosi Audio V3 Mono Amplifier Review

I'm using V3 Monos and V3 Stereos in DIY 4-way/7-driver speakers. Fortunately all the V3 Monos are I have are the same vintage (early, but just after the first production run) so they all "match."

    Pioneer VSX-LX505 AVR Review

Add to this list the Netflix app in the LG C2 evoOLED, probably other LG models, too.

How to bypass av receiver’s internal dac?

I use an AVR strictly as a "side chain" Dolby Digital processor in an Atmos system, out of the signal path of my main front left/right channels for 2-channel stereo sources. The front L/R Pre-Outs on ther AVR are a "stereo analog source" on an outboard "passive" analog stereo selector/volume...

Fosi Audio V3 Mono Amplifier Review

I have 6 early Fosi Audio V3 Monos with 31dB/25dB gain switches that don't do anything. Some early production irregularities, I guess. I haven't measured the actual gain on these units.

    Ground Loop Problems - Solved

Has OP considered putting a resistor between his SET amplifier and his 115dB-efficiency speakers?

Does near field listening render room correction less necessary?

Yes. That's why I sit 1.8 meters from the speakers.

    Pioneer VSX-LX505 AVR Review

My "503" (not a 505) doesn't seem to be shutting down on extended pink noise when I'm running acoustics tests anymore. Update related, you think? (I only uses it as a Dolby Atmos processor.)

Fosi Audio V3 Mono Amplifier Review

I'm using V3 Monos to drive a pair of ESS Heil AMT "Large" tweeters above 2000Hz, and contemplating Topping B100s instead. Looking forward to comparisons. I know ti measures quieter and cleaner, but audibly so? (I'm guessing not.)

SMSL RAW Pro-DAC1 Balanced DAC Review

I've noticed this new styling from a range of new SMSL products. It's nice to see there's promising performance behind the pretty faceplates.

    Fosi v3 Mono Amplifier Reliability

I have 6 Fosi Audio V3 Monos. They drive the 4 Ohm 12" woofers and ESS Heil AMT tweeters in the stereo pair of custom DIY dipoles I built. No issues at all. One of them went into protection mode when I inadvertently shorted the output, but of course they're supposed to do that.

    Hifi amps with dsp.

There are professional power amplifiers from Crown (and others?) with built-in DSP.

Are "non-conventional" speaker designs worthwhile, or just gimmicks?

I've been a "dipole man" for nearly 40 years. I've owned and enjoyed more conventional speakers like JBL, KEF and Tannoy, but I gravitate to Acoustat, Magnepan and Quad, and my own DIY dipoles. In addition to their freedom from box coloration, and their unique open, airy soundfield, ESLs and...

Some bad ideas refuse to die - console phonographs

Like it or not, "mid-century modern" is a widely used term in architecture, decor and industrial design circles that refers to design from the middle of the 20th century. I never dreamed its meaning would be called into question. I assumed it was more widely recognized.

Some bad ideas refuse to die - console phonographs

So they could hang the TV on the wall behind the console. Speaking of TVs over a fireplace: it gives me a severe neck ache. I don't know how anyone can tolerate it.
