    Marantz Cinema 40 AVR Review

Because if it is true, connecting an external dac to the avr doesn't make sense.

    Marantz Cinema 40 AVR Review

Posted by a member on avs forums, said to be information from marantz support when he inquired. That's all I have and that's why I am curious.

    Marantz Cinema 40 AVR Review

Measurements to confirm would be nice, because it has been said it's supposedly impossible to bypass the built in ADC/DSP/DAC in cinema series.

    SMSL SU-1 Stereo DAC Review

You can also use "charge only" cables, that have data pins blocked which forces slow charge (5V only) if you think there is a need to be extra cautious.

    SMSL SU-1 Stereo DAC Review

SU-1 uses approx 1.3W under normal use, so it's kind of hard to imagine it could be power starved unless it is connected to an very old or extremely low power device. Using a UPS to power the SU-1 implies it has been modified, though, so that could have an impact.

    SMSL SU-1 Stereo DAC Review

I can't see power consumption on boot, but as soon as the power meter starts measuring it hovers around 1,3W, doesn't matter if it is playing music or not.

    SMSL SU-1 Stereo DAC Review

Buy it and try it, if you really want an external DAC. If it doesn't work properly you can add a powered usb hub in between the TV and DAC which should provide enough power for the DAC.

    Marantz Cinema 40 AVR Review

Coax and toslink behaves the same? I don't see any measurements for coax. But according to the data having an external dac connected to analog input is even better?

    SMSL SU-1 Stereo DAC Review

Thanks. If only the frequency response of PO100AK would be the same as with SU-1, one DAC would be enough :-/ https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/s-m-s-l-po100-ak-measurements-round-2-dac.42982/

    SMSL SU-1 Stereo DAC Review

Is there a dac with the same specs as "SU-1" which also includes coax and toslink out? I have the SU-1 connected to RPI/volumio hooked to an AVR and it's working nicely, but I would like to have the possibility to switch between the analog and digital output for comparison sake.

Denon Replaces AKM AK4458 DAC IC in X4700H and X6700H

How feasible would a dac swap be on a modern AVR? The soldering part shouldn't be that difficult, but I don't really understand the implication of such a procedure; would everything simply work and be/sound better or is it more complicated than that?
