Kef LS60 wireless review by ErinsAudioCorner

No worries. Being transparent tends to disappoint more people, but I find it preferable to the alternative. While I like being transparent, I've still got to have my secrets . Feel free to badger me, but I won't be able to say anything in particular. At any rate, it'll be public before too long...

Kef LS60 wireless review by ErinsAudioCorner

Hi @Muddywaters There is definitely ongoing work on the app, we have a dedicated team working on keeping it up-to-date, both with external software (streaming etc.) and hardware (new models of phone and new models of speakers). As to the specific features you mentioned, we have considered...

This functionality does already exist, but the log files are encrypted. When support is contacted through the app, you can send logs to our support teams. They have the ability to decrypt the logs and will be able to help with diagnostics.

KEF Reference 3 - damaged cone

Dents on LF drivers make basically no difference. LFs on KEF speakers tend to be used up to about 400ish Hz. Even with damage, the driver would still be acting in a pistonic manner, so the change in sound would be minimal. Dents on LMF drivers, like those used in our 2-way speakers, make a more...

    KEF in Lotus

It's actually surprisingly stiff. As it follows the geometry of the cone, the same shape that makes the midrange of the UniQ stiff, makes the grille stiff.

KEF R11 Meta Tower Speaker Review

Sure. R7 Meta R5 Meta R3 Meta As you can see, the LFMF crossover point is higher up on the smaller speakers. However, the drive unit size is a bit different to how you describe. The R5 (and R2) have 5.25" LF drivers, whereas all the other speakers have 6.5" LFs.

KEF R11 Meta Tower Speaker Review

Hi @capslock, Nearfield measurements are useful for isolating the effects of each individual driver, but they aren't quite correct in the crossover region. This is because many drive units will be sounding simultaneously, and the measurement will only be in the nearfield for one of those drive...

    KEF LS60 Wireless Just Announced

If you ever want to configure the network settings without using the app, you can directly connect via the web client. This will appear on the IP address the speakers are occupying. If the device isn't on a network, it will be broadcasting its own WiFi network. If it isn't, factory resetting...

Why would anyone use an AB amp for a tweeter?

Woah, it seems my comment kicked up a little bit of a storm. While there are valid technical reasons to use a Class AB for a tweeter over a Class D, those that said the reason was "marketing" are certainly not wrong: - Designing loudspeakers for sale involves assessing the best technical...

Why would anyone use an AB amp for a tweeter?

So the AB amp on the LS60 is there for a few reasons. Basically, we would prefer to use an AB for everything but in the active products space and therefore cooling as at a premium. We couldn't fit a suitable LF amp into the enclosure so it has to be a class D. As others have pointed to, we did...

Pressed steel speaker chassis vs cast or plastic

Cast chassis tend to be made from aluminium, which acts to reduce certain types of distortion in the loudspeaker motor. The steel in pressed chassis increases that distortion. Plastic can sometimes be the best compromise, as it can easily be strong enough, if it's something like glass filled...

Bookshelf speakers, small room, close to wall.

Yes. Almost everything below the Reference series from KEF is produced in China. I believe the new Q Series Meta is produced in Thailand, although I might need to check that.

    KEF Q Meta is Coming

Plausible to build yourself? Sure. It would have to be larger - either 2x or 4x the one in use in the R meta and Ref meta. (I can never remember the frequency/size relationship). The parts are nothing particularly special, being injection moulded. A hobbyist could certainly 3D print a functional...

    KEF Q Meta is Coming

Yes. Grilles are included in the box with every model, this is one of the best upgrades from the old Q Series, imo.

    KEF Q Meta is Coming

The Q6 and Q Concerto will have different bass. Aside from that, they are pretty similar. It's more a matter of size and placement. You can put the Q6 right up against a wall as it's sealed. The Q Concerto can't be put right against a wall due to the rear port, but the cabinet is smaller. The Q...
