    ADAM Audio A series 2022

Quickly checked spec of Adam A7v, max input level is +19 dBu, which is 6.904 vrms. Your DX7 PRO has max output of 4.2vrms, so no problem here. Read the spec -- 0 dBu = 100 dB SPL at 1 m for 0db setting. Now, with -12db setting, you get 88db / 1m with 0dbu. And your DAC is able to output...

    Topping PA3s Review (Desktop Amplifier)

Since I can't edit my post anymore, I want to add a bit more information(probably as someone else already mentioned): The strange noise is gone when driving with XLR input in the same test environment. So this amp has a pretty noisy RCA input. The filterless design seems not the one to be...

    Topping PA3s Review (Desktop Amplifier)

For anyone who's curious, I recorded some strange noise made by my PA3s. In the video I was playing a 60hz sine wave, the amp generates some noise at certain volume. If you pay attention you will notice that triggering the noise on/off are at slightly different volumes, as if the amp is...

    Topping PA3s Review (Desktop Amplifier)

Unfortunately I tried both first/second order pass filter but they make no difference to me. It was a 12uH + 0.47uf + 12uH filter in the picture. Thanks for your input. So far my issues are all noise-related and I have no evidence to say it's unstable..

    Topping PA3s Review (Desktop Amplifier)

Yes, this amp CAN be pretty noisy. But it's tricky. Sometimes it's a fine AMP. In one case, it seems happen when the load is less inductive. I drove a full-range drive with very flat impedance(motor with shorting ring), it makes HF noise when the driver is playing pure bass note(I put a minidsp...

    Neumann KH120 Disassembly Pictures

I'm the one who take the pictures. The KH120 Gen1 woofers are coated paper cones. The coating material does look like polypropylene however I have no idea what it is. The Genelecs 8030/8040 are polypropylene cones.

    Dayton Audio OPAL1 speaker launches

It's a pretty unique product. "passive full-range subwoofer" comes into my mind. There's no need to bash the sensitivity.. It's a natural trade off in a passive speaker between bass extension and size. And probably the only way to use that particular driver correctly (above average power...

    New Barefoot Footprint03 studio monitors

Nothing too fancy. But very good idea. The idea is pretty simple: in typical music, HF level is much lower level than LF (most energy is in Bass in modern music). Use a analog crossover before DA is a clever way to optimize gain structure, preserving dynamic range in HF signal. ie. lower noise...

    New Barefoot Footprint03 studio monitors

The basket has been used by many Airborne and Bold North woofers. But I feel that Barefoot woofer seems to be a custom one. https://qcomponents.ca/products/copy-of-bold-north-audio-bdt-2901-1-1-8-ohm-tweeter-78036...

    New Kii Seven

That is logical, Although 100hz is very much a "bass" frequency compared to traditional midranges. DD8c achieve this cardioid frequency with a 8 inch long throw woofer. In many announcements it was said that "In addition it equips the Kii SEVEN with a Cardioid Sound Dispersion pattern down to...

    Wilson LōKē Subwoofer

To be fair, the sub seems design and measures well. The port opening is huge(measured by picture, it's got the same port area as a 13cm diameter tube), yet tuning is very low: 20hz. If it were a straight port, the length will have to be way longer than 1 meter. What does it mean? Meaning the...

    New Kii Seven

I wonder how just a pair of side-firing woofer can do cardioid. Unless the 5-in midrange is actually a mid-woofer.

Poll for Topping PA5 owners only please.

Ok that's how it's evolved for my broken PA5: 1: The unit was bought 2022 NOV, and it's already passed 180 days mark. I have low expectations for how it will be solved, but would like to limit my damage as much as possible. 2: I talked to Shenzhenaudio, they agree that I purchase a new PA7 and...

Poll for Topping PA5 owners only please.

What's the safe environment temperature range for PA5II, or in general all the Topping Amplifiers? My PA7 case idles about 42c while environment is around 26c. Is it a good condition for long term use? I didn't remember PA5 gen1 has a hot case when idling.

Poll for Topping PA5 owners only please.

My PA5 failed after only dozens of hours of use. Bought last Nov. L channel is 6db down(I guess one of the BTL amp failed), strange hiss, and a strong pop(at least 12v DC) on L channel only when turning on. Very disappointed.

Focus - new active Dynaudio speakers

All things being equal, a sealed box speaker will have higher distortion than bass-reflex ones around tuning frequency. So, LS50 will have less distortion around 50hz or so, but will have higher distortion far below that. Since you plan to use a sub, this difference wouldn't matter too much...

Focus - new active Dynaudio speakers

Dynaudio did have multiple absorbers behind the tweeter dome, but I believe they work very different than the META material. I do appreciate that Hexis can protect soft dome tweeter from fingers. As for the woofer, it looks like Dynaudio did improve the drivers compared to earlier generations...
