    Best ripper software is?

https://abcde.einval.com/wiki/ It's also in the Debian repositories (also Void Linux + most others)

    Best ripper software is?

Just like abcde, Asunder uses cdparanoia to rip the CD. It is really just like a graphical version of abcde. I use abcde because my dedicated ripping PC is headless (no monitor) and I just ssh into it to rip the CD.

    Best ripper software is?

Andrew Strong was the last known developer of this project and has since retired from it. https://www.andrews-corner.org/abcde/ I'm also using 2.9.3 and have no issues with it at all. The metadata is always spot on (currently using musicbrainz) and the covers retrived by glyrc are usually very...

    Best ripper software is?

If you have any Linux knowledge, use 'abcde' (yes, it's really called that) which uses cdparanoia to rip the CD - cdparanoia is very accurate and can rip to numerous different formats. It will also download cover art of a decent size with the glyrc plugin. abcde also has various configuration...

    Older Amplifiers Better?

He can offer a valid opinion IMHO. Whether or not he is biased, it's still interesting to get his views, given the vast experience he has with older gear.

    Extreme Snake Oil

That is one of the worst sites I've seen in terms of usability. It's so small, and mouse scrolling doesn't work. As or the layout.... They really should have employed the services of a proper web developer...

    Topping B100 Amplifier Review

This one doesn't have the little additional PCB inline with the power socket.

    ESS datasheet rant

Surely you could do that with a simple RC circuit and a transistor (BJT or FET)?

I made an Audio Science Review Twitter bot!

The posts link back to ASR so I don't see a problem. All the OP is doing is aggregating the posts here on ASR. This is no different to 'pingbacks' on a WordPress site IMHO. Of course @amirm might have a different view - but ultimately this should drive traffic to the site which is no bad thing...

    S.M.S.L PO100, PO100 PRO & PO100 AK - Measurements (Digital Interfaces & DAC)

Have you checked the software volume control? The volume for my PO100 is reduced right down low each time I changed it to a different USB port (both in Windows and Linux).

High resolution files on old DACs?

EDIT: I just realised you have version 1 of the DAC and I've quoted specs for version II. According to the spec for the USB port is should support 24/96: 1x USB type ‘B’ connector for computer/PDA - 16-24 bits, 32-96 kbps (Determined by source file/computer settings) If you run the...

High resolution files on old DACs?

If it's the DP32 then it should support 192k / 24 bit via USB If you're using it with Windows, chances are the default rate is 44k/16bit. Does it have an ASIO or WASAPI driver? https://perreaux.com/products/dp32-usb-dac

    Audiolab 6000A Firmware update

Look at the top right of your screen (if on a computer, I don't know what it looks like on a mobile device). You will see a bell for notifications and an envelope for email. That's where you view and send email messages. Your name will appear to the left (I have blurred my name out). To...

I checked on the Wayback machine and there's only the setup guide there as well. http://web.archive.org/web/20220309035032/https://www.elac.com/music-server/discovery-series-ds-s101-g/ But earlier in this thread someone linked to the same guide I think.

is pull-push impossible for non-balanced headphone?

A speaker (or headphone) diaphragm is held in a 'center' position mechanically, by the spider (and also to a limited extent the surround. See illustration below. The diaphragm is suspended in such a way that it can move to and fro, but always return to the mechanical center (in the absence of...

oops, didn't know about gain, volume trouble

I found this info in the manual: So the input sensitivity is 110mV which would make the volume control on the preamp extremely sensitive to movement at lower volume settings. A pair of attenuators to reduce the level from the DAC would help here. You could also use the volume setting on the...

Can someone comment on the build quality of this LPS - Thanks!!!!

As per my response to your previous poet (post #54) The streamed music you are listening to is just TCP/IP network data as far as any network device is concerned. There is nothing analogue happening here - the streamed data (music) is encapsulated in the network data - it's impossible (I...
