OK I since discovered that if I stop and start the tones within a certain time frame it does not drop the voltage of the PSU to 4 ohm mode. I tried changing the frequency but it must sense this as the same voltage or something. I'll see if I can vary the output, but I am guessing it will work...

It could be that and overlooked, but I'm guessing the 4 ohm mode is triggered via current sensing or heat sensing should the sensor(s) see pre-programmed condidions. I would imagine they have done something for the bench testing, but 4 ohm's is definitely forced at volume below -29dB and forced...

OK, so initial impressions so far, it would appear to switch HVOL and LVOL (6ohm and 4ohm) rails between -29dB and-22dB at least in PCM mode. I did play a film briefly and that seemed to keep it switched up but wanted to play further. so far Spotify connect is a bit slow when selecting tracks...

No switch it to 6 ohms and try the kilo-watt meter. leave zones off, especially if powered.

OK, so it would appear that they have relaxed current sensing, in favour for temperature control maybe. Interesting. Try the same again with a power zone 2 or 3 active, or better still force the 4R in the menu and see what the Kilo-watt-thingy measures then?

They can't iterate what it does for compliance purposes. Be interested if anybody in the real world would notice.

Sorry, my point being that the RZ-30 already has the feature set that the new firmware gives to the RZ-50, including the PSU sequence improvement.

I cannot find a firmware update for this, so if it is tested, and holds out better with impedance load, then it will answer the question I'm sure.
