I'm currently using an audioquest pearl optical cable from my wiim to my marantz amp streaming from tidal at 24bit 192khz I could not find the specs of the cable so I contacted audioquest and have just had a reply stating that the cable supports upto 24bit 94khz but yet it's sounds fine

Looking at specs for different optical cable manufacturers only say they support up to 198khz so are most cables running at maximum capacity? and can spdif output higher rates ? And I haven't found a manufacturer that gives specs for max bitrate for coaxial

That's great thank you for explaining it I'm just trying to understand why some prefer coaxial over optical and how one could be better than the other and vice versa when it's all noughts and ones

So the SPDIF signal goes straight to the coaxial output were optical is converted to light then output ? and can the quality etc of these components affect sound quality ?

Hi can anyone explain what does the job of converting a digital signal in order for it to be sent via a coaxial cable or and optical cable? I know one is electrical and one uses light but what hardware actually does the job is it something like a dac chip ?

Would using coax be a better connection choice ?

Thanks for all the input and advice I was convinced it was my asymmetrical loft or the amp. I went through everything apart from making an appointment for a hearing test then I found the app and bingo !!!!

Been listening all day there's a definite problem with image placement on the left channel the problem followes the left channal however i swap things around

Adding toe towards listening position puts everything in the centre

2ft from both walls gives more depth but no change on width no matter were I sit futher away or closer in
