Not measuring via Pure Direct would not measure the DAC, but the DAC together with the DPS's effects. What are you after? The amount of distortion added by the DSP in different modes?

So you're saying that it's not the amps clipping, but the power supply getting overloaded? Be it 2 channels at 168W (8ohm) or 4 channels at .. 105W for 1%THD? Or combination of both at different times?

ah, go it... so the board itself is only 12.8 (https://purifi-audio.com/eigentakt/) but finished amp will have more.

@peng one more question to validate my understanding: if I wanted to use an external amp, e.g. the Purify with a gain of 12.8dB I would be able to reach a power of (only) 16W into 4 Ohms? And even at 4V output (which the Denon can't possibly give) it would be (only) 66W?
