I would like a detailed report then - mostly focusing on the sound quality.

Yes, sometimes the pice / sq ratio is nonsense. But it is possible that those electrical engineers do not have the sensitivity that we do. A good example of this is the Japanese hi-fi industry in the 90s, which today we would say had a kind of 'ASR-oriented' design. Perfect, flawless...

    Gustard DAC-X30

What is misleading in all such type of measurements: the less experienced audience connects the given measurement results with the perceived sound quality, and e.g. rush to buy SMSL SU-10. This obviously stems from the scientifically disguised belief that will always be a topic of debate among...

Here you are: According these measurements - SMSL SU-10 the best. The only problem that it's a misleading information for those looking for good sound quality.

Seems that the 'well-designed tests' and 'methaphorical talks' are the similar bricks of the hifi matrix. ASR can mislead you with the measurements just like the X30 guy with his paid-enthusiasm. Personally I would prefer the simple user's impressions; but there is still very little of it.

OK. If you write here at ASR that 'I like the sound of xxx dac and I prefet to yyyy dac a lot' - is it an information?

Do you hear a difference with DAC filters?

At first I didn't understand it: (sharp filter) How can it be possible? That echo overtakes the signal itself? Then experts explained that digital conversion is not a true real-time conversion what steps ns by ns after each other. Digital signal is going to the chip then the conversion is...

Do you hear a difference with DAC filters?

He prefers 'sharp' filters: How to pick the best filter setting for your dac I think it's a technically correct text. Maybe help to understand what's happening. But I think the opposite nowadays.

Do you hear a difference with DAC filters?

Yes, of course. I know hifiers whos never disturbed by a pre-ringing effect; I know hardcore NOS belivers too. If you listen non-acoustic music you may prefer the 'Sharp' filters as well. That's why AKM gives these filter-possibilities.

Do you hear a difference with DAC filters?

Please remember that WTC turned the European music into the 'false'.

Do you hear a difference with DAC filters?

There are several 'complicated' records in anyone's CD collection. Usually thought not too good sound-engineer works or simply tiring or fatiguing instruments or etc. Music is excellent but sq is so-so. When I started to use 'Super Soft' filter I realized that these records can be listened with...

Do you hear a difference with DAC filters?

Be careful. The selected filter / difference is almost unhearable but it can overwrite your listening habits. The first 'sharp roll off' is excellent for measuring and at first sight seems 'the best' but has strong pre-ringing effect; means some echoes overdrive the sound what causes the echo...

    Gustard DAC-X30

Musical Paradise offers ESS or AKM 4490 chip. I see that almost only the Chinese manufacturers jump on the latest AKM 4499 chip, which is a serious development.

You are right. But please list the North American companies using this newest AKM chip.

Yes, the support seems not very good. But he price of the same NAD would be around $7200 or more I am sure.

Serious Question: How can DAC's have a SOUND SIGNATURE if they measure as transparent? Are that many confused?

If you explain why two digital interconnects (or CD transports) differ in sound, or more precisely, how it is possible that one has poor bass performance and the other is full-sounding, at that moment I will also provide the requested proof.

Serious Question: How can DAC's have a SOUND SIGNATURE if they measure as transparent? Are that many confused?

+1 for Gustard A26. Never believe anyone who says that the dac chip doesn't have its own voice, its own character. I heard this 'velvet' sound from the SMSL PL200. 'Velvet tonality' is not good because it is 'velvet', but because it is absolutely tonally correct. Then I looked for the best...
